Hey guys..Thought I'd share some thoughts on my first session on the Acid this morning..3ft clean steep hollow (in places) break..Stiff offshore later in the day 10knts+
I'm 46 and close to 95kgs.. Currently ride the 8'4 Speeed. Went with the 8'7 Acid( was looking at the 8'4 and may lock one in later next year).
Super stoked on my session. Was anxious it was going to be too tippy but I found it surprising easy to stand on..And as stable, imo as my Speeed once I found sweet spot.
On the Wave just a machine. So easy to rail and hit the top and bottom. Smooth transition and extra responsive on turns and cutbacks compared to Speed, turns great from middle but got back in the stomper too which felt great. Made some moves that I usually can't land on my Speeed and cutting back into crucial sections was effortless.
The only cons I found for me was lacks a little glide compared to speeed so need to be closer to the action on take off ..And I managed to pearl it a couple of times so adjusted my front foot a little further up and this helped , and making sure my set up was ready early and big deep hit on the paddle before take off.
Like that the nose didn't get held up in the offshore like the speeed can at times and it doesn't feel anywhere near 8'7 which I really liked. Mine came in at 7.5kgs with c drive fins on.
..And lastly I'm not expert just my personal thoughts and I have no connection to Sunova other than two boards and a sweatshirt.??
Chur..Happy Supmaori

Thanks for the review!

What size C-drives are you using?

For what its worth, I have now had almost 10 sessions on my 9'1 (for the crappy conditions or big left where it is always very lumpy), and half a dozen on the 8'10 (115 L) in cleaner conditions. I am also 95 kg and I also am VERY happy with how they surf and their stability. I am starting to wish that I went for the 8'7 instead of the 8'10 for the good-condition board. But otherwise I echo Supmaori's comments. (I do have to get my foot back a bit on the 9'1 but not on the 8'10.)

(I don't get any money or favors from Sunova.)

Nice review Supmoari

I currently have a new 8.5 Speeed and an 8.8 and an 8.7 Flow
I will now trade in my 8.8 Speeed and was thinking of getting an Acid
At 80 kg & 49 yrs Im assuming the 8.7 would suit me going by your review
Im thinking the 8.4 under 100lt would be too much of a challenge for me
Hope to get some swell in the morning
Cheers

Great to hear you are loving being on the Acid! After our correspondence, glad to know that you took my advice about the 8'7 and that was going to be the right size and was the way to go.

Yeah thanks Stevo, Tardy and all those who had input and advice on this matter. Definitely the right size for me for now and If today's session was anything to go by..I'm looking forward? to learning more about the board and it's magic.
SCE I'm using L sides and M middle fins for both Speeed and Acid boards

Nice to hear your feedback SUPmaori... as well as you other stokies.
I can't wait to see some vids.

You young guys.... ha ha, I compared my numbers to you and can't compete.
At 95 kg + board = 102.5, SM is about 1.03 with his Acid
Last outing, I totaled about 119 so on my Acid at 136 L, I am at 1.14 and in the winter, I struggle mightily if there is any wonk.... price of age
I am down 5 kg since I last rode my Acid, so hopefully it will get easier soon.... this post is stoking me up to push myself a bit!

Yuppers.... full on Sunova suck up... loud and proud. But I don't have a sweatshirt. Hey Tino!!!
