Just wondering if anyone has or has ridden one of these.
Ive been riding a 9 0 hokua which due to a lack of decent waves felt like riding a log
so am looking at something a bit more manouverable in waves as well as slop and seen
one that fits my budget.
Or would I be better off saving some dollars and getting a more traditional short board
type sup .(Finding spare dollars weighs into it as well ]
any feedback appreciated

cheers

two words: wide tails.

Try a shorter (less than 8') wide tail design: Simmons, Tomo, Fish, .... it will be insane fun in everyday waves.

Thanks for that , how do think this starboard pod would go 7 4 and 28.5 .most of the width is carried up front with a pulled in tail I mostly set up as quad reviews I found were good but seen footage looks to carve good but that big front end looks to big a bit in a lip and coming of the top .
I'm all but ready to jump on it but worried it may not do what I want it to due to budget restraints I'll be havin it for a while ( if not for budget I'd have ordered one of them paddle pops yesterday )
Sorry I ramble on a bit but have read a few of your comments and sounds like you know board design and would have some insight into this particular design
Cheers

Well, I havent tried the Pod, but from the shape: noserider front plus narrow tail with V, you can expect something like described by "viper" here: www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=11695.0
A board for hollow fast waves, that can be used in slop due to its wide nose, but not really lively in these conditions (bogging down in turns). Kind of a Takayama Sorpion, I had a similar board: imgur.com/a/DWrQS. Great for retro style surfing (noserides, pivot turns) in small waves.

If you want a board that will be alive in slop, you should get the opposite: a wide tail for power in gutless waves, that will not sink when you put the foot on the tail to turn. Wide noses are good if you want to noseride, otherwise they may limit you in turns. It depends on what surfing style you favor, but by reading you I guess you want the opposite: A short length, fast rocker, a wide tail with a not too wide nose, for explosive surfing in weak waves. Your Hokua has too narrow a tail and too big a rocker for slow waves.
Pro-level riders can make narrow tails work in weak waves, by generating speed with their technique, but most people will just be pushing water.
