I'm looking for a 2016 Javelin and I'm in doubt to pick the X26 or X28.
I weigh 96-98 kilos and so I'm just above the announced maximum riderweight of the X26 (95kg).
I read somewhere that the X28 is optimised for riders +85kg...
Anybody has experience if the X28 is much slower (but more stable) than the X26?
Or should I go for the X26 because it is much faster?
I was able to test the X26 Maliko which I found very stable. Is this comparable to the Javelin 2016?
I plan making a lot of hours on the water, so I hope to gain even more stability. I don't want to buy a X28 and wish it was a X26 in a few months...
Mainly flat water or chop. No big downwinders on my homespot.
Thx
Pick your board to handle the worst conditions. Flatwater is easy, any board will feel great.
Once you get comfy in tricky conditions, then think about stepping down to a narrower board.
Bottom line:
Test your dream board in really messy stuff first!
I'm your weight and know these boards well..
I'd be picking the 28 for sure..
Unless racing is your main priority..
Javelin is possibly even more stable than Maliko due to harder rails and slightly lower entry rocker. I'd go 26" if you are not going into confused ocean waters.....
@DavidJohn : so the 28 is more stable then the 26 but slower?
When I'm stable on a Maliko 26 and PeterP tells that the Javelin is more stable : would you still recommend the 28? Why?
I read somewhere that the 28 is made for persons above 85kg... Could this be true?
