I'm a lifelong windsurfer and kitesurfer and have been paddelboarding for the last 3 years.
I own a Starboard Whopper Wide at 34" en have competed a few races on a Fanatic Falcon from a friend of mine.
Now I want to buy my own raceboard.
I'm in doubt between the 2016 Naish Javelin 14'x26" or 14'x28".
I weigh 98kg but hope to lose a few kilos so I would just fit in the maximum rider weight Naish gives for the 26" (95kg).
I'm 1m96 tall and have some SUP experience.
Will the 26" suit me or is it to tippy?
I'm considering that (when I sell it in a few years) more people will be interested in a 26" than in a 28", but I want to be sure I don't get myself in any problems.

Anyone has some good advice?

Thanks,

Steven

Forgot to teel you than I'm mainly interested in flat water and choppy. No downwinders at my homespot ;-)

Just talked to a Naish team rider this weekend. He told me that the 26 width would better suit me than a 24 width at my weight of 84 kgs and 180cm height. If I take that at your info, I would say 28, more comfort. He told me I must have very strong legs to be comfortable on that 24'. And I am not so keen on training 5 times in a week, and I am not that young anymore. So I go for the 26', but I will demo it first for that money. The boards were up in price again and also without a boardbag

At your weight I'd be choosing the 28" width.. There's no problem with being a little too wide.. but there is a problem with being a little too narrow.. I love my 28" wide Jav and it's nice to get to the end of a downwinder dry.. Even at 28" wide it's a chalange to balance when you get a big boat wake.. I'm your weight and can paddle 26" ok but I feel that I'm working much harder to balance most of the time than my cumfee 28" wide board.. IMO there's not much deference in speed.
