Hi
Looking at buying new touring / trainging / downwinder. and tossing up between the 2015 Naish Glide 14' 29" W and 2015 Naish Javelin 14' 28" (maybe 26"). Have been SUPing @ 4 years having surfed a mal for 25 yrs and windsurfed/wavejumped since the mid 80s.
I am reasonably competent SUPer using a JP 9'1" SURF Pro in the surf , mostly east coast Vic. Learnt to SUP on PSH 10'6" wide
Did have a Fanatic Glide 14' 2012 model but found its big noose doable but an unpleasant paddle in strong cross winds & cross wind swells. and have recently sold.
Board will be used mainly in the bay for fitness training and downwinders , with the occasional foray in to the ocean and possible the odd race.
Questions - How does the 2015 Javelin perform in downwinders? How does it cope with cross winds or at least, is it better than the 2012 fanatic ?
I am leaning toward the Javelin (hear folk have successfully used in some of the 2014 Island Hawaiian races. Probably the 28" wide but maybe the 26" , that maybe a little ambitious - I am @ 85kg.
Any one have any insights / views?
thanks
I'd suggest the 14' x 28'' 2015 GX Jav.. There's no problem with side winds catching the nose.
Look close in my vid you will see super strong gusts at almost 90 deg at times.
The board's awesome.. and I'd recommend the wider option even at your weight.

Very useful written feedback and video - confirmed what I was thinking. Pearling and cross breeze do not seem an issue on your run.
cheers PB
Great Video DJ. Love that bit at 00:40. One moment Heath is there and then a few strokes later....gone.
After paddling the 14 x 26 I would recomend it at that width. I am 87kg and have paddled in strong winds and choppy conditions and find it more than stable enough.
