Well, finally got to christen my new little wave board - 2013 9.0x30 Converse.
Last weekend at Carlton River - 2 to 3 ft point style rights and much more beachy lefts
I set the board up with standard 2+1 fins and hit the water. It handled the 500+ metre paddle to the break no problem - tracking good and glide ok for a 9fter. The board paddled into some knee high fat little one with zero effort and was a real treat standing right up there on the tip of the nose running through the little right hand peelers - best sup Ive noseridden yet.
As the lefts got more solid and closer to head high I had a crack at a few and had no trouble at all getting in early and setting the board up for some very hairy runs down the line. Never once did the nose go under, even on very late takeoffs. The only thing that let me down was my ticker as the surf got bigger still - the board was doing it easy.
Also noticed how easily it punched out through the whitewater - every bit as easy as a pointy nosed performance sup.
taking it to the north west coast this weekend and gunna try it as a quad so that will prove interesting as I have never liked quads on sups - just have an urge to try it tho cos its such a fun board and makes me wanna try stuff I normally dont.
So far at least - very very impressed
