I tried one last week. A very refined shape, very nice rails and rocker, very nice and strong construction. (no pressure dents, not any ding although the user was carrying around for some time in his car without a bag)
A bit on the heavy side, though (actually the heaviest board this size I ever tried).
On the water, this board has a definite longboard feel (you need to move on it, it noserides great), with an amazing precision when carving on the rail. Very low volume for its size (for my 220lbs) for a production board, but stable for its size and width. Once you get the board moving you forget the weight (and the chop), but this may not be the best board for quick manoeuvers in gutless waves.
They have quite a following in France, with a lot of fans delighted with these very nice and refined boards..
Nice.
Do you have a Hobie Dealer in Vic?
Do you need a Hobie Dealer in Vic?

Keep an eye out for Gordon from Hobie at the Vic events this weekend.![]()
HI guys, have not tried the Colin McPhillips, but have recently bought a hobie 12'6 elite race board and you can only get them through the dealer in Vic which is Scott Lovig Hobie in Mornington. email:scott@slhobie.com.au or ph.5975 6399.
I have raced my board at Port Phillip Cup and Cerberus Race and found it to be very competitive and nice to ride. Price is not bad either. ![]()
Rode the 2011 Hobie 8'11 Colin Mac model today in 4 to 5 foot waves. Surfs real good, awesome looking, not a board for the novice @ 28 1/4" wide. Designed to surf! step on that tail and it just whips around. Thanks to Scott at Mornington Hobie !
rode the 8'11'' on the weekend gets good speed and turns very easy the bigger sizes would be good for beginers great board very stable![]()
