Dont get me wrong I would love a kahuna creations bombora but just cant afford the $400 bucks at the moment so I bought a brand new board 46' pintail from ebay and made my own stick using a 25mm dowel a paddle handle, 2 scooter wheels and tennis racquet grip. Works perfect!!! Total cost for both approx $130. Sweet!! Keep cruising.
Would put pic up but not sure how to add it in forum
^^^^^time will tell. enjoy it while it lasts

I think we can call ourselves innovators with help fron one another. Its all about having fun and keeping active although I have a sprained foot and its driving me crazy not being able to get out there.
If when I was a kid, my mates and I were able to play "soccer" with a ball of rubber bands, glue and newspaper, then you can surely street SUP without falling for those brands and commercial corps.
SUP is not about paying $$$$
a paint roller pole with a lacrosse ball screwed onto the end works just fine, especially for the kids
Aloha

Hi all i am just getting into SUP and Land Paddling, and no I dont think it costs that much to go for a street sup.
I bought my board on fleabay, Got a Finn drop through for $110 and i built my land paddle
It is 4 x pieces of quad timber which is taped together top middle and bottom. This allows a fair bit of flex in it for using as a brake.
the road end is an old mountain bike tyre cut up and taped to the bottom, super easy to replace as it wears out and still grippy.
I will say it doesnt have much cushion effect and needs a handle at the top but it works for my first attempt.

Some of the street sup sticks coming out of the US lately don't have t handles.
One type has nothing on the end and a 7' shaft.
Another has a ball on the top end of the stick.
Just in the process of making a few with bamboo shafts and rubber ball ends.
Will run them as a long shaft with no shaft and maybe make one with a bamboo t-handle.
Since ones with flex seem to be popular I'll try the bamboo natural and if too much flex may even coat them with resin or a fibrgelass wrap.
