ART V2 999 good smooth stable lift easy to ride and has good speed or Spitfire 1080 a lot more cruisey and slower but again very easy to ride and start. Bigger wings are fine to learn on but really limit your turning in waves.

HPS 1050. Way underrated wing and can pick up on the used market for cheap.

Obviously you're in WA where you get good swell, but no weight or age.
A mate had ART Pros 1400 and 1200 and has used them Foil Drive but has now changed to Spitfire 1180, ART V1 1099, Spitfire 960. He is 85kg with small Jimmy Lewis board.

I'm on Gen 1 and go to is Spitfire 1180 and recently got V2 1099 that I've winged but have yet to use in surf but keen when it's over waist high.

If your after cheaper used go ART V1 1099 and 999

ha 85kg, 62 yr youngish (that is scary to see that number) still piros is charging :-)

Maybe kneeboard foiling might take off hahaha

yes , seems the pro aren't favoured

looking at art v1 or 2

At 81kgs I'm almost always on the Fireballs for upwind/downwind. I did try an ART Pro a couple of times but found they don't turn, well not compared to the Fireballs. Really depends if your in waves or swell, waves travel slower due to the friction with the bottom where swell can move at 20 knots when a good size. So Fireball for fast swell, Spitfire for waves.

The Spitfire 1080 or the PNG1300 v'2 are a great starting point

I haven't tried foil drive or PNG910.
If you can get up on foil with the 910 though what's wrong with that.
Not really sure what your goals are?
The bigger Art Pros are still a good foil they just don't turn great for wave riding and for downwinding the Fireballs are taking over.

Don't be to concerned about your age. for the record I am older and heavier and can flatwater paddle up the AP1401 and PNG 1300 and 1300v2, not that easy at my age and with a dodgy shoulder but doable though.

I haven't really tried any others on the flat but my 1250 fireball (1130cm2) is my go to for lightwind ocean dw and gets up fairly easy, I might have to give it a go on the flat one day soon
I haven't been able to bring myself to sell my ART PRO 1401 or 1201 yet but I know there are a few around second hand

The 1099v2 might be a good option (I have only used the v1) but for something that gets up easy and still turns the 1300v2 is great

thx tightlines for encouragement

age a slight barrier as is a shoulder replacement but working on flexibility and strength :-)

nothing wrong with the PNG910, just exploring other options :-) and the foil drive (which I've been impressed with)

demoing the spitfire 1030 which has similar area

the swan river is ****** cold !

Ok so we know you age and weight, need to get more details like foiling experience and board.

The ART V2 you tried is small unless you have experience, big board and potentially a chip in.
My mate with his small Jimmy Lewis got up on ART V2 999 when he changed to Foil Drive High Power motor.

Do you also wing or just Foil Drive?
I've demoed the PNG 1300 V2 and awesome lift and glide, I've winged it once and early lift and glide and could pump though lulls. But I like the Spitfire 1180 as low wind and starter foil drive foil.
Good Luck

have been a winger, but been out of action last 2 summers due to shoulder replacement surgery twice

running foil drive as an efoil on sunova dw 100 litres

tried the spitfire 1030 today, very easily got on foil , nice wing, smooth, turns ok

yes 939 too small, but no artV2 999 or 1099 available to demo :-(

"have been a winger, but been out of action last 2 summers due to shoulder replacement surgery twice"

Yeah, I've had to do a lot of shoulder rehab with left shoulder rotator cuff and right bursitis.
I have a permanent buggee for rehab exercises and aches after winging.

Back on topic of foil drive frothing
Great to hear the spitfire 1030 works for you, with your board you won't drain the battery as fast as smaller boards for longer run time.
Keep with it and find other foil drivers and you will progress with a big grin!

ok a bit of feed back

stuck with spitfire 1030 and then changed down to a 375 stab
cruising round comfortably on foil, turning well on flat water, ready to move on thou

FD using 75% power to cruise on foil

just put on the 3 prop, wow

same set up was now using 60% power (according to controller)

so got out the 999 art2 and with the 3 prop FD no problem getting on foil (couldn't before on flat water)
glides much better and easy to get to top of mast (running as an efoil)

65% power to cruise on foil,
didn't notice huge turning difference

next steps,

waiting for my super trench from DC

go to the ocean and ride some swells!

use 25cm cable and learn to pump

any other foil suggestions welcome

made the move to 25cm cable, much less drag than e foil set up

put my hps 830 to use, very user friendly and turnable
no problem getting on foil

just bought advance+ fuse, 2nd hand

big difference, needed feet further back on the board by 15cm

great set up with the hps830

DC super trench not too far off :-)

I foresee surf set up on the hps83o, advance plus

down winding - art999 standard fuse and skinny stab

first proper Seabreeze today :-)
