I will have a custom board made up, 5'6 x 27 about 100 liters for supfoiling and wingfoiling.
I am planning to have a handle in the bottom and not on the deck.
Anyone with experience or just tips?
I was in a meeting with the guys from Axis and saw that the new boards had handles in the bottom. I asked what was the deall, and Adrian replied that it made much more sense while carrying the board with a wing.
If I ever get a wing specific board I would get a handle in the bottom of the board. Would add a bit of drag but may make exiting the shore-break more graceful ![]()
looks like it come up good, was there any clash with the handle on the deck?
I had it done by my local board repair shop and they said it was no problem. The deck handle which is balanced for carrying the board without the foil is slightly more forward .

Yes I was there when you dropped it off to get down, I'm the one you showed me your are Naish wing that day! Looks like the boys did a good job from the photo? so they got the position right and the balance with the foil on is easier?
I think I'll drop off my board to them to get done while I'm away, seems like a much better and easier way to carry the board when Wing dinging.

Yes Oke did a great job at fitting my handle.
Those thinking it's an easy DIY job should know that because these boards have such a soft/light core and the glass on the bottom is usually very light you need to first fit a large hi-density foam block into the board to mount the handle in and then have it well glasses over to make a strong handle that won't break out down the track.
The balance turned out perfect and it should help to carry the board with foil facing away leaving a free hand to hold my paddle or WingSurfer in my free hand.
I'd get handles top and bottom.
Bottom handle for grabbing the board to get out of the water.
Top handle and foil for long carries and getting down narrow paths.
If you want to diy a easy handle or leg rope attachment you can use yacht braid type rope. Cut the outet sheath layer back about 50mm each end and then splay out the core and epoxy glue to the surface. Strong and spreads the load. Probably no more drag than a normal handle if in the bottom of the board.
Thought this would be a nice feature as an extension of the base plate : (hope my sketch makes sense).
Ok traction point is a bit offset and it adds some drag but maybe worth trying.
Come on Foilbrands!

Nice idea. Don't even need the bend down to the board again. Just bend a flat piece of aluminum to stick out like a pan handle. Not much drag at all. Pretty easy DIY to start too.

I think it would (need to bend down) because it's the front and it might hook or catch weed or debris in the water.
