Looking at getting a steet sup.
Something to cruise, carve and not see my 0.
came across this board at a realy good pricehttp://www.skateboardexpress.com.au/longboard.html
will this work compared to a beach board? I see its got better bearings.
Advice will be appreciated.
In short you get what you pay for in boards.
Abec ratings on bearings is purely a speed rating and doesn't represent quality.
The deck isn't Maple and has no glass in it.
I would normally suggest some form of reverse kingpin truck for a longboard too.
All this said, it's not like it wont work.
I've got a 47" Psycho longboard from these guys and it is sweet! A few of my mates have different ones from these guys as well and they are fine for weekend cruising.
We are all using Big Sticks, but a couple of the guys have Luna Sea sticks and boards as well and they go well too.
have a 42" vault skateboard which I loved the cruisy style. New next door neighbour introduced me to street SUP and instantly loved it. But couldn't justify the big dollars for the stick so made one out of another neighbours bamboo clump and an oar collar. (the part that sits in the rowlock) Hey doesn't look as good and maybe doesn't flex as well as a bought one but at around $195 all up total price, I can still cruise down the street with a smile. :)
get some original s8 trucks if you really want to carve. these things are the ducks nuts. if you got the coin get the apex 37 carbon deck to really enjoy the closest thing you can to surfing on dry land. in fact im loveing the skater a bit more than the water since i got this set up. maybe just a new toy thing but what a toy![]()
hard to beat the originals,i hear bad things bout them but t i think there the best. better than my randals and paris, yet i still use the paris for down the line speed![]()
i have the 46inch pintail and i absolutely love it. the bearings are great, trucks are reverse kingpin and is a great board to use with a stick or without.
id really like to demo some gear, where are you situated??
Also have a Vault 46" pintail. Changed the bearings for Vault ceramics and can't fault the board. Have been out doing 5k each morning - fantastic. Using a timber/bamboo composite stick with double integrity rubber cone base (that's a $6 Oates broomstick from Bunnys with a 22mm chair cap on the end, with a 29mm cap over that!). Will a $200 stick improve the experience?
abec ratings are bit suss. you will never get to the speeds that rate it. something like the bearing gets closer or some rot. too lazy to dig up the info, will do later. love my bones reds and my special board bones swiss, mmmm. just got a new honey40 inch pin, nicccccce,he makes delicous hand made boards![]()

Did 20k on Sunday - Sandgate to Woody Point and back - awesome fun!
Pretty good footpath all the way - best bit is the hill coming off the bridge on the north side of the river. Gotta watch for the lycra brigades though, they don't seem to understand the lack of brakes!
(hopefully not busting any forum rules here) Gotta give the Vault suppliers a big thumbs up for service too - had a problem with the third board I bought through them - rang, new board in the mail that day, no hassle. V impressive!
