Hey. I ride Uni and after some advise on the bigger Evo's. (I have the 155) as there is nowhere local to demo in Wollongong.
I'm looking for the comparative AXIS to Evo 235.
I have a friend who has a good range of AXIS and hoping someone has ridden both so I can make a call on what to buy next.
Cheers,
Kitcho
I have the evolution 235. I am using it for dock start on a small tray board at the moment. I find it has good low end, great glide and is easy to pump in flat water. A friend of mine has also been using it successfully for flat water paddle ups and SUP downwind river runs. It's good at picking up minimal amounts of energy. It would probably be a bit big for dw ocean runs unless you had very light marginal conditions. For its span I think it turns pretty well, but obviously it's not going to turn anywhere as easily as your 155.
Hey mate. Thanks so much for your insight. How much do you guys weigh? I'm around 90kg.
yeah the 155 turns hard.
I'm not too worried about DW, more looking for a smaller wave and bumps foil. Been tossing up between the 205 and the 235.
I'm around 90kg as well, did my first ocean downwind on it today in 12 to 14 knots and it was great. One paddle up and then 5.9 km on foil to finish the run. It definitely picks up the energy and it turned quite well today.
If you want the glide go the 235, if you're chasing more speed and ease of turning then maybe try the 205, both great foils in my book.
Do they both have the locked in tracking feel? (I hate it) like the AXIS PNG1300v2?
Or I have a feeling they might roll into the turns a bit better because of the anhedral wing
I wouldn't say they have a "locked in tracking feel". I think they turn well for their size. I haven't ridden the axis 1300v2. Span on the 235 is quite a bit less though at 1232mm (205: 1154mm). I ride the 235 with the short fuse and I think that's a good option for the larger Evos.
I got the 155 sorted.
Changed from the progression tails to the 15.5 afterburner.
What a difference. Now its awesome in every way..... (for me.)
Just bought the 205 and waiting for conditions.

Pat that's a great first run well done....
