Hey whats the latest? Any more news on foiling with SUP? Any of the slower speed kite foils working on a SUP board like the cabrihna double agent foil?

I have a shed full of foils for the Sup at the moment , yes the Cab DA works (pretty heavy & slow) plus I have been using Carbon Lift kite foils but the Carbon Go Foil Kai model seems to be the pick , they have also released another model for the 90kg+ club the Maliko . I'm picking up one of these later in the week in Hawaii. Naish also have the Ali Malolo which is similar aspect to the Go Foil Maliko. Both Kai & Chuck Patterson are now riding Naish Malolo.

The Naish Malolo , Maliko & Kai Go Foils are very different to kite foils both front and back foil tips face down , which is way more forgiving you won't find this on any kite foil, so these are the pick for now IMHO. But I do have some low aspect Carbon Lift foils on the way as well.

A lot of brands and shapers are experimenting wildly currently. I guess you will see plenty of SUP-specific foils coming to the market in 3-4 months, with some quite cheaper than the current offerings.

Some brands are also trying to come up with true beginner foils, for people having never "flied" before (be it behind a boat, or with a kite or sailboard), as the learning curve will be steep, and potentially quite dangerous.

As I never foiled before, I will wait a bit, and let people with some foiling experience try the first wave of foils first :-)

Put a Go Foil on my 9-6 heavy SUP. Lifts at 7.4knots (I am 65kg). Was ready to abandon my board and go shorter then saw the French Gong 9-5 hang-five SUP foil video. Looks very cool.

how are the rear foils on the gofoil and naish? are they the conventional way up like the front foils ie the curved side on the top or are the upside down like I have seen on some of the kite foils to I assume create some downward pull and to point the front up? Have you played with the angles between front and rear much?

This is a shot of the Go Foils on the left is the Maliko much flatter and wider , in the middle is the Kai and on the right is a F-One Kite Foil. See how the Go Foil tips both point down plus the big fat lip leading edge. No I haven't played with the angles Charlie.

Saw a bloke on a Sunova speeed foil today on the Central Coast, he was doing pretty good with it considering a jetski nearly took him out!, I don't know if it was an official Sunova foil or a custom one made up.

And downwinding in "Mistral" winds (cross offshore wind near Marseilles, France) by the Horue team, a French kitefoil brand now designing also SUP and surf foils. I guess the rider takes off with the help of the boat, however... and without a leash, he really needs a dedicated boat!
