Does anyone know if the new Sunova DW boards work with Armstrong HA foils ? I notice theses boards have longer tracks but I would like to know if they are far enough forward before buying one cheers.

Here's a pic showing the HA925 in a 6'3Pro.
Original A+ mast. This is my mate setups and I've tried it and it works just fine. I'm running #2 on GoFoil and he is on #5 with the Armie
The only annoying thing is the nut slot on the Sunova is in middle of the track so you can't get the foil all the way to the front. I like the way Amos and Axis have gone with the T nut opening at one end of the box.

Thanks baldy123 , that's just what I wanted to know , looks like they are a goer , just can't get the foil all the way up which sounds like it doesn't matter. Your mate must be pretty good to paddle up the 925 on a 6'3 , I'm thinking of starting with the 1550v2 on a 7.0 maybe ?

Go for the elite if you want a bigger board over 7'. Better to be longer and skinnier. The 7'0x23"Elite seems to be a great size for those with some paddle skills. I recommend starting with wing ding downwinding on the DW setup. Use your smallest wing and try not to use it. My last session i used a 2.3m Wasp and it is as close to SUP downwind as you can get without a paddle.

How much wind were you out in with the 2.3 ? Downwinging with a super small, light wing is something that interests me

It was my first proper downwing outing with the 2.3m WASP. Wind at start around 18knots and picked up to over 20knots. Using a 1150cm2 foil. The longer downwind sup boards really don't need much wing power to get them up and flying. I've used the 2.3m with my 2200cm2 foil in much less
wind.

The elites yes. Most of the coach Casey members submitting videos each week are close or can do it. Flatwater you addle ups are not required to downwind though.

Hi Kobo
I'm running the HA 1325 front wing, 60A+ fuse, 195 tail(no shim) on a 72 mast on a 7.0 Sunova Elite(xmas present). Rear of base of mast position is set at number 4(about dead center in the box).
I've found the board yaws left n right too much if the mast is set forward of number 4 and pump ability isn't as efficient.
Paddle up takes time to master on the flat but downwinders are a breeze to paddle up.
Board performance is epic up on foil and so much easier to paddle up in downwinders.
Foil pump is epic, depending on how fit you are.

Thanks for that info wazupra just what I was looking for , I'm 80 kg and was thinking of getting that exact board and running the 1550v2 or 1125 to start with as thapey are the biggest foils I have atm. Do you think at my weight there would be any benefit in going bigger to the 7'6 elite or is that too much .
Cheers

Sorry for late reply kobo.
Depends on your stability skill set?
At 70kgs I went from a 5'10 x 27 x 107l to the 7'0 x 23 x 120l elite.
I struggled for a month to dial the board/foil in and figure out a procedure to paddle up because of the narrowness made me feel like I was still on me 5'10" board in downwind conditions(all good now though). The paddle glide of the elite is exceptional pointed downwind. Time it right with a bump and she pops up on foil with ease.
I would go with the 7'3 if I had to choose again.

Classic ...I just got the 7'3 and had it out paddling and winging on the weekend with 1550v2 set on 3.
It paddles onto waves so much easier than my old fanatic SUP ,but at 23" wide the balance is a challenge atm.
winging it is fantastic feels really good , gets going way easier and feels really good up on foil. I'm keen to paddle up DW on it but I'm gunna need a bigger foil I think and lots more paddle and balance practice. Even if I don't get that far it's a way better wing board and the tracks are forward enough for my Armstrong foils so happy days.

I went from a hs1850 to the ha 1325 because of the lower stall speed of the ha and 232 tail to 195 because it increases your pump ability and the 232 is more sensitive to secondary+ swells/chop. Next purchase will be the new 85 V2 mast because the v1 flexes to much through turbulant waters(example: foiling through the path of an already broken wave).
The 1325 coupled with 195 goes fast when dropping into troughs. I found hanging at the top of a bump and sometimes pumping off the back to the next bump behind is way more efficient than taking on the drop and pumping/linking to the next bump. The speed can overwhelm you at times, making for interesting staxs. I've tried shimming the tail to slow the foil down but prefer me current set up.
Happy days and persevere with your rigg kobo. Everything will eventually come together.
