I have been SUP foiling with 24" mast, Slingshot Infinity 84 and the H2 on bigger waves. I am now working on prone surf foiling, with 24" mast and the H2 wing. I found using the 84 lifted too quick, before I could pop up and get my balance.
I have now come into some spare gear, including a 30" mast. So I can set up both boards, bring them both to beach and switch off, without fiddling with tools. Question is: which board should get the 24" mast vs the 30"?
I suspect the 30" mast is better for the sup, especially while learning. The pop ups seem easier with shorter mast. But maybe longer mast helps with pumping short board? Opinions?
depends on where you surf, but if it's at all shallow I'd put longer mast on SUP, as the board has more volume compared to prone board. with the longer mast on the prone board, you'll be more likely to scrape bottom when paddling, sitting, etc...
A longer mast is not easier to learn on that is a myth , you'll get away with an longer mast better on a Sup than a prone. The longer mast is handy for DW and Towing in but for daily riding 650mm is plenty .
Once you go the longer mast you won't go back to the shorter mast....I only use the GoFoil 29.5" mast now on both my prone & sup....
I don't think your problem with lift when prone surfing on the Infinity 84 will be fixed by a longer mast.
IMO, it's too big - maybe ok for a HEAVY weight or micro waves.
65-75cm mast for prone, longer ok for sup.
Was foiling with Clemmo yesterday and he was ripping on the Gamma on tbe prone , give that a crack , agree with Topplover the 84 is a big wing for the prone .
This is him on the Gamma

Thanks for all the replies, good intel. Though I think I may have confused what I am after. Not looking to solve any problems ... the question was that I have two masts 24 and 30, two wings h2 and 84, and two board sup and prone. I can rig up two sets of gear to leave on the beach and trade off, so need to decide which is optimal for each.
I think I will put the 30" and 84 on the sup. I actually really like the 84 wing, it provides lots of lift for tiny waves, and has a surprisingly good upside for speed in slightly bigger waves. Maybe I am riding smaller, weaker waves than all of you, or maybe the 20lbs of wetsuit is the difference, LOL.
Today I rode a couple spots at lower tide than normal, really noticed the water depth, even with the 24" mast. The seaweed along the bottom is a bit of a nightmare.
Anyways...thanks for the input. Stoked.
To me. Common sense says shorter mast on shorter boards regarding the pumping. Shorter board distance from mast to board nose is shorter & distance from mast to tail end is shorter. So less of board touching water.
The only time I would change would be depending on water depth & troughs & bumps on water surface.
