Ok. Now that Sup foil boards are getting so short. I am thinking about the possibilities of having one for both Sup & Prone foiling.
I know that it is possible to prone a sup as I have done it on my Sunova 8ft 3 by 29 wide. Even better on my 27.5 Jimmy Lewis Suptech but its Sup stability is difficult. I weigh average of 80 kgs.
But looking for the best fit for both. I would say the width would be the main problem due to comfortable Prone paddling versus comfortable Sup stability.
My current foil board is 115 volume, 7ft long & about 31 wide. Very stable with foil added.
I surf in mainly lumpy swell conditions caused from side swell rebounding from an island & or breakwall. The other conditions is the usual wind chop. So Sup stability is important.
So thinking if a 6ft by 27 wide at 105 litres would be the best comprimise.
I haven't researched the sizes of all the short foil board SUPs as yet. But think at this stage the Jimmy Lewis short SUPs may be close if not the one.
Just putting it out there for comments before I start researching.![]()
What about 5'10 x 26 x 103L in Glass weighing under 6kg and in carbon close to 5kg
This is just one of the many custom foil boards we are doing now. We do hold some stock of these now as well like the red one.

Thanks paul.j
They look great. Love the deck too. Should help with stability.
At the moment still saving the money. Hopefully have enough by June or July.
I am questioning how I would go in stability with it being 26 wide? Wondering if it would be better at 27 wide with a little more volume for me & my local conditions. The difference between 26 & 27 across the chest in terms of paddling isn't much. So I think this will help with greater volume & stability for me at 80 kg 5ft 10" tall.
I'm thinking of taking my 27 wide sup out again to try how it feels proning. Its only 95 litres & very little stability. But might be better with a foil.
Also just wondering on price.
Thanks again for your reply.
Ok. I have got back onto my Jimmy Lewis Super Tech 7ft 10" to see how it would feel.
Jumped onto it in flat water. No problem.
Then out into more swirly light swell entrance. Still ok. But a little more difficult.
But once out into open water with frequent chop & swell. No way! Just couldn't stay up! Amazing how it makes a big difference. So layed down & hand paddled it like a prone board.
27.5 wide was ok for paddling. But prone paddling gets tiring, slow & uncomfortable over a long distance.
And oh. I rode a wave when back in smoother water. But got the uncontrollable wobbles on the board as I rode it! Haa! But I must say I haven't SUPed much & had a 2 week break due to back injury.
But no problems at all when I took my Sunova Soul 8ft3" by 29 wide 110 litres out.
So now thinking I might forget about prone altogether & focus on a better fit for my size & sea conditions at my local surf which can be quite bumpy most times.
So now believe that 28 inch wide by around 6ft 6" volume 110 litres would be comfortable enough for stand up SUP foiling. Or 27 wide if the SUP is considered super stable for my weight of 80kgs.
Also thinking of selling my Jimmy Lewis 7ft 10" As it will get very little use now that I am foiling more.
So just wondering how short & wide others at 80kgs feel is comfortable enough in bumpy seas waiting for a wave on a foilboard.
