Hey guys
Afyer some advice about QB ono ava. Can it be used for supfoiling, sup surfing as well as downwind foiling. My QB UV88 snapped so on the lookout for a new paddle. But I want it for sup foiling ( I have a foildrive unit too on my sup foilboard) but can I also use for sup surfing? Otherwise my other option is the QB uv82 or 85.
I'm 90kgs.
Thanks
Just used one today for flat water SUP pop up drills. Really nice paddle, feather lite, but strong. I like how the blade is recessed 15 deg from the main paddle shaft.

Thanks..did it feel too big paddling with it.what was it like pulling through water..ok on the arms and shoulders.

Ono ava is a very forgiving blade and is most efficient when paddling when you are already up on foil. the high blade angle makes the paddle very stable. it lokes a super slow cadence.
I prefer the Black Project SprintX in the largest size. The lower blade angle is more efficient on acceleration and loads your shoulders less when accelerating. This paddle likes a faster cadence than the ono ava. The main problem with Black project paddles are the fragile blades. The minimal layup means they get soft with hard use and crack easily on impact. The QB blades are much stronger but their weak point seems to be the shafts.
Thanks for that. Would you recommend it for dual-purpose Sup foiling and sup surfing..or is it more a dedicated paddle for down winding and flat water foiling.

I was thinking about buying one ono-ava, but reliability while downwind is my main concern. QB shafts are just not strong enough, and I don't want to break a shaft 5 miles away from the coast. I broke a brand new v-drive 101, and there was no warranty cover.
For me, it is just not worth to expend 500 plus for a featherweight paddle.
The paddle is really good with the last power stroke at launching you into the wave. More power. Can paddle past your feet for a deep powerful final stroke.
It's not the paddle for someone who prefers a fast paddle cadence.
Nice video..as much as I would like to own the ono ava I actually went with the new Quickblade full carbon UV82..stoked with it
Looking for additional input on the subject. been using a Blue Planet Kai Zen 92 the past year. Blade finally gave up the ghost. Debating on replacing the blade or getting a new paddle. I assume eventually I'll have a similar issue with the BP blade though it did see some significant abuse.
I snapped several other brands paddles before going to the higher end single shaft blue planet. And overall I've been quite happy with it. I realize I prefer a slow cadence, so the QB appeals to me though up in the air on the 105 vs 115. Just saw the canoe version of the blade in store; and I'd have some concerns of paddle-board strike with the 115. that puppy is big!
I've heard mixed reviews on long term durability from QB some have praised a few have had issues without warranty coverage.
Thanks for the input.

I finally got an QB ono ava 115, it makes a big difference. I guess my technique is not very good, but you can feel the ability of doing longer strokes. 2-3 strokes and IN.
