Is this some trick question Hilly?
No everyone has an opinion and that is fine. Just interested in hearing it.
He rips! How does the mast stay attatched to the board?
I did some white water kayaking and canoeing when I was younger. We were taught to plant the paddle and turn on it, that's what sticks out to me. He is really planting the paddle and using it as a pivot point.
He's showing what is possible. It doesn't look the greatest to me which is likely due to it being a SUP that he has to pivot around with massive body torque. His bottom turns are what I would like to be able to do on my prone board though. The amount he's leaning the board over is amazing.
I like his carving turn, he really push but I don't like the airs and when he overpowered his ride. But that is Zane style.
Yep, Hilly. Zane Schweitzer Rips he's got loads of talent. Zane always goes at 100% when he's in the water, he's like a little Grommet with ADHD thats had a glass of Red Cottee's Cordial. Zane & his whole family are so down to earth. I got to meet Zane & his family when I worked on Namotu Island in Fiji as a Surfing/Lifeguard/Boatman he was a little 17yo grommet also when hanging out on Maui the most beautifulest island on the Planet. Zanes brother Matt is also very good behind the camera.
Yeah just ripping and strapless to boot , to me best Sup foil riding I've seen . I've been chatting to him on insta , he's riding the new Starboard 1300 wing & 75cm . He's just frothing on it. I also had a chance to test the new Starby 1300 & 1700 on the weekend , pretty amazing foils with great all round perfomance , good weight and really well priced . I'll do a review next week or so just need weather to clear up to get some video.
What is interesting is his use of the paddle. At times he even uses it as a boat rudder like in:
Whatever you think of his style, this paddle use is quite impressive, as using off-center forces like this can quickly lead to "folding knife" brutal falls in foiling.
I like his carving turn, he really push but I don't like the airs and when he overpowered his ride. But that is Zane style.
+1
Impressive to watch but a bit ugly. Seems to fight the wave and try to overpower it. The airs are just silly. All just my opinion.
Technical skills 10/10
Flow and style 2/10
Thought it would get different viewpoints and that is good ![]()

When they have SUP foil surf comps what are the criteria?
Zane's shredding like he is on a short surfboard. IMO I think Zane displays incredible flow and style. The ability to carve on a dime and shred a tiny wave up, is just awesome.

The rules were just posted the other day actually. They're still evolving I think. One is. "functional use of paddle to increase intensity of turns."
I like watching the prone foilers and wish I have the time and skill to do it.
I'll be happy for now if I can get to that level of using the paddle to pivot turn and as well as pump pump paddle.
It would be a dream if I can get to derek or zane skill level ![]()
I liked the longboarder.
lognboard is fun too and lots of cool looking dudes and dudis out there ripping it up ![]()
I liked the longboarder.
Yes great technique ![]()
It's Zane's lady.
I have always thought zane is a rider who puts extreme manouvers before style, he is not as smooth and stylish as some other riders but he has a knack for pulling some crazy moves out of the bag!!
The turns with the wing half breached are amazing! So far I have only seen zane and Derek hama doing them. I think that's really a progression in foil riding and possibly down the track we will see lots of people doing big foil half out hacks and throwing lots of spray ![]()
