Here's a pretty cool interview with the Naish foil designer (Nils Rosenblad) talking about the new Naish foils and wing-surfing.

The new Naish have a very impressive weight reduction for an Ali setup, weighed a mates new Naish setup 1050/75/320 and it came in at 3.60 kg. My Armstrong 1050/72/232 weighed 3.00 kg.
The only possible downside could be the wider mast ( won't turn as easy) but not sure how much difference that really makes. Recon the old setup one would have been round 5 kgs.

Definitely ahead of the other Ali foils now, I remember when hangliders went from 6061 aluminium to 7075 and they halved in weight and 7075 was much stronger as well. The only downsides were if you crashed the 6061 bent where the 7075 just snapped and left very sharp edges. Also for guys flying on the coast in salt air the 7075 alloy was more susceptible to corrosion. Be interesting to know what series of alloy Naish have used and how they have protected it from corrosion. Like the fused ends as well , removes any movement which improves reaction and feel.

I rcvd the new 1800 HA a few months ago. I was pleasantly surprised when I put it all together and picked it up. It's my favorite DW Foil now, but I think the Ultra High Lift Foils will always have a place. They just come us so easy and carve. Love the HA for speed, no more red lining the top end worrying about a breach and the pump is easier. I was surprised by the glide as well, I thought it would drop like a rock but it really carries the speed so it doesn't hit that bottom end plop and drop speed as quickly.
It's nice we are getting to a tweaking stage of the foils...then you have the wings where quantum leaps are being made on every Version. ??
