Can someone tell me what length of mast is idea for wing foiling? New to the wing but experience kitefoiler.

75 to 85 but 65 works . The longer mast are better in open ocean and really choppy conditions but obviously you need deeper water to start which can be a problem in some areas.
Thanks. Would a Lift 90 cm be alright. Do you think a Lift 150 wing would be too small?I have no issues with depth where I play.
90 is fine but the Lift 150 is way too small , Nick at Lift has released a 250 you would need that at a minimum. His wings are really aimed at prone & E-Foiling .
The mast length thing is very interesting. Here's my 2 cents (JB).
- 65cm. Ultimate small wing aggressive mast size for smooth conditions. Prone foiling where you are carving hard and not concerned about pumping back out (it will still pump easily, but in general, 65 and under is on the short side). Also a great size for riding beachies (doesn't hit).
- 70-75cm. Preferred for SUP and more open/rougher water foiling. Great for pumping and moderate downwinding. On prone 75cm can feel big when doing fast transitions, but like everything you will get used to it. IT is time to start watching out beneath you at these lengths, beachies will become difficult.
- 85-90cm. DW weapon. I find the 85cm and up a little tricky especially in powerful conditions. For downwinding it is an extra luxury to glide high above the chops and not clip when transferring bumps. When turning hard though I find there is a line were you go from "You" being in control of the foil with all that leverage of the mast length, to the "Foil" being in control using that mast leverage against you. It can be a weird feeling. As you're generally not tick-tacking as much DW'ing, it's less of an issue. But the height advantage is awesome for DW.
Anytime you go longer it will take time to get used to. I remember going from 55cm - 65cm was huge back in the day. Then even just going to 70cm was another learning curve again. I then started riding 80cm for DW and loved it. Recently moved my surf masts up to 75cm which is working really. Had some time to get used to using 85cm for DW or Surf, but am now used to it for DW and Wing Surfing. 90cm IMO is too big on a SUP foil and way too nbig on a prone for me. Way too much power to the foil when it's all going south on you.
At the end of the day, it's awesome to have a few masts and options for the conditions. I travel with a 65, 70, 75, 81, 85 and 95cm mast. But I spend most of my time on the 75cm.

Ok. I think I might go for the 75 as I will be riding in a variety of conditions. Seems like a happy medium. Can always add a longer one at a later time.thx
