Thumbs Up

I picked up my new board from the airport today :) Stoooookkkkkkeeeedddd! Jimmy you've done it again :)
I got it home and unpacked it straight away and couldn't believe how light it is..Can't be anymore than 2kg...Not to mention how fricken cool it looks..
I've been super happy on my JL Superfly FD 5'4" because it's so easy to flatwater start, surfs well and great to downwind on but I'm only 80kg and still surf everyday so I just wanted to trim it down a bit but the next stock size down was 4'11" and too much of a jump...Fine to foil on but not so great to flatwater start on small wings...Also I didn't think i wanted a trench board as I have no problem with the battery on the bottom of my board...
I speak to Jimmy regularly so I asked if he was going to do a stock 5' or 5'2" Superfly FD board in the range and he said I'll just make you one and I'll send you my new trench board shape...I told him he didn't have to but of course I'd be stoked if he would...So he made me a 5'2" x 19" Trench board...
I put my foil setup on it straight away and I was NERVOUS to ride it...I don't do well with changes especially with foiling and we always joke about only changing one thing at a time with foiling or otherwise it's too many changes..I thought is the size going to be a lot different making it hard to flatwater start, is the trench going to change the ride dramatically, will the pod be that much closer to the bottom of the board because of the trench and I won't be able to get up high on my mast heading out etc etc...
The wind was up and onshore out front of my place and I'd had 2 average sessions over the last 2 days (kooking that is) as i hadn't foiled for a couple of weeks but I thought **** it I have to give it a go straight away as it looks to cool not to and no one is around to see me if I do kook it :(
I walked up to the north end of the beach to try and get out of the wind as much as possible (did I say how light my board is!) and also where it was a little glassier, negotiated the thumping shorey rolled it over and expected the worst but got up and took off like a rocket..
Wow the connectivity, manoeuvrability and liveliness was amazing! (I just had to be on my game a little with going over chop and swell if I buried the nose because it's a lot narrower up front than my stock 5'4") but absolutely amazing..
The carry and glide I got when i came off the back of the waves was so much better due to the light weight, turning was so much more sensitive and the narrower board made me narrow up my stance more which I loved.Don't get me wrong, the weight and construction of Jimmy's production boards out of Kinetic are second to none but when Jimmy does a custom board it's insane...
My last wave let me do a mini downwinder the whole length of my beach gliding from bump to bump and I came in on such a high...
Anyway stoked doesn't describe how much i love my board and can't thank Jimmy enough :))))))
