Sorry if posted here before (did a search and couldn't see it).

Unless the rules exclude it, may not be long before someone modifies a design for downwinders.

This is why we all need extendable paddles.

Was he tow started or did he use his own paddle power?.....I am curious. Hard to imagine he extended his extendable paddle as he built up speed?

Its not as complex as it seems.
This guy paddled into waves at Curl Curl Beach in Sydney.

Even on small waves there's enough power within the wave to lift a surfer. The bigger the area of the foil the easier it lifts.

Balance is the key.

So how does one put a foil on the bottom of a board?
How would one even know how to construct the foil itself?

You can buy them.. They've been around for years.. Waterskiing.. Tow surfing.. Windsurfing.. My local windsurfing/sup shop has one.

I think I can get a 10 foot mana.....might have a hint of a crease in the nose but otherwise wide and floaty

but mayb if it is a working and doable concept someone could do a purpose designed foil board......am thinking foil attached to central stringer (or stringers?
