Hi guys,
After moving from Gofoil to an Armstrong 85cm mast, HA1125, 70cm fuse, 235 tail, set ; I'm have a fiery flash feel, which I expected a bit, but if I load a good bottom turn I have a couple of "spin outs" (sorry for the windsurfing term but I cannot find a better way to define it.
Overall I'm very happy with the equipment, but I just want to make sure everything is right and if there are other things I can improve.

There will be lots of wobble and you will need a lot of shims, then they will recommend you buy the new mast and stabs. Enjoy the rabbit hole

Try a 50 or 60 fuse. I use the 50 fuse and have no issues.

If stab is too slippery in turns shim it for more lift. Will slow the rig but add more bite in turns. Will also make more pitch stable and easier to ride.

As I understand, it has a negative 1 without shim (more amount of lift). If I add the 0.5 or 1 degree that comes with the kit, it will be reduced to 0,5 of 0 respectively. If I add the supplied shim it will have less lift.

Reverse the shim and trim the excess. Works great.

Oh Hilly. from no. 1 Army fanboy to no.1 gofoil fanboy. Unsure why you are commenting on a brand you don't ride?probably a bit embarrassing given your 1000 posts pumping Armstrong products. Have you even ridden the performance mast and new foils?obviously well into the gofoil rabbit hole now with your mallet, teffjel, fixed tails and corrosion. Keenly waiting for your new brand comments once the gofoil shine wears off The new Army performance mast is a gem. Game changer for heavy riders on large ha foils. If you can afford it do it. the new ma foils are superb foils easy to fly and fast with very little lift variation in waves and at varying speed once dialled. Able to ride ocean swell at speed and will turn once inside and can ride slowI personally think the cf v2 foils are underrated wave machines - for me the best turning wave foils I've ridden smooth turny and inspire so much confidence on waves due to predictable lift and ride - awesome kitYou won't regret changing to Armstrong once you dial in your kit. The range is huge. The adjustment for each foil/tail/fuse/mast combo is virtually endless and will suit most riders once you find your setup All ha foils are harder to ride than lower aspect shapes so may be worth stepping back a while to improve skills to maximise enjoyment of more technical foils or just persevere until skill improves to meet demands of the setup.

Welcome to the breeze an open forum where you are allowed to express an opinion and have a joke.

I have ridden an MA on the new mast. Seems to be ok for you to comment on GoFoil but please get your facts straight, no tefgel and no corrosion on Army or GoFoil and you can use shims on a GoFoil pedestal if you chose with a wide range of other brands tails as well. Yes the mallet always made me laugh too.

A lot of mates on Armstrong and they are going through the MA tuning stage with shims on masts and tails, I was poking some fun at them.

Enjoy Armstrong, well made kit.

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments!
Very good feedback.
Just allow me to say, that I'm keeping me RS1000-26 mast set. There are pros and cons for every system.
I don't like to pick up sides in this life ;)

I second the suggestion of trying a 50 cm fuse with the 1125. That's my favorite combo and find it to be plenty loose. The HA 1125 shares some similarities with the RS 1150 if you've ridden, but rides quite different due to the thinner profile.

I changed over from gofoil to armstrong and love it! I use HA1125, 60 fuse, HA195 tail with red+blue shim and its magic. same setup with the HA925. I dont get any slide out in the tail. 235 tail is too slow for the HA's

Thanks! Yes, I have the same feeling. Sanding down the 235 may help.

Few months ago I got the 935 mast and 50 fuse, made the 925 and 725 feel amazing. Use both with 195 tail, no shim. Turns as tight as you want, super loose, stable and mush easier to quickly recover or adjust. For the first time since I started foiling I don't want to change anything.

What is your weight ? Just trying to get an idea at what weight the new mast starts to make a noticeable difference.

I am 88kg, was having a hard time with the 925 using the 85 mast. Now my favourite wing is the 725 and use a 50 fuse with all the wings. 925 and 725 feel amazing with this setup.

Buddy of mine is just over 60kgs. Even he is blown away by the feel of the new mast, so I'm not convinced it's just the stiffness. Other factors are contributing (foil section, rake, thickness etc).

New armstrong mast is ridiculously good, I have tried a few and this one is tops, I am loving down winding on the bigger HA's now as well.

What size HAs are you DW with the new mast on ? My fav setup is 925/50/195 on the 85+ mast and @ 80kg I don't notice any flex or have any problems with it. but I haven't tried the new masts so hard to know if they would be any better for me.

Kobo .. Quantumn leap better bud. Outrageously improved. Might have been a very different market picture at the moment if this mast had come out before the crazy HAs and the somewhat needless CF v2 lines

All thse new wonder foils coming out etc. bla , bla , bla - recon buy this mast. Its the greatest change to your performance per dollar unit by far.

I have too agree with Eppo, this mast is so slick through the water, rock solid stability, I am loving it with the 925/1125 mainly as well as the new MA's.Going to be trying a 1325 and 1525 soon So will keep you posted.

Sounds good , do keep me posted I'm fine on the 1125 atm but would be interested to hear how the 1325 and 1525 behave with the new mast especially for DW
