Wow, super expensive for an unknown product, probably better to go with the Duotone if you want a waist mount system.

5.5 K Aus for something no one has seen . There are much better proven options out there plus even an Australian made one,

I've been watching these guys for a while, they look pretty cool, 5.5K is a good price compared to the rest of the market if the quality is there, looks like they are made in Spain. Would be okay if their product support was really good, but it's allot of money to take a punt on, any rich folk out there willing to take a chance to let the rest of us know

Duotone is twice the price. I do want to go waist mounted and trying to explore all the options. I wish Duotone offered a strap on motor option as I want to stay carbon and it's tough to justify moving foil brands. The Crest do look really good thought.

You have to add the price of the prop too as it's not included.
Then there is the question of support for your expensive toy, is there any? Hopefully not like Manta

How handy are you? It's not that hard to make one like flow custom. All the info is on foil.zone The parts for flow custom are all on ali express and the box they use is sold by camdenboss

Absolutely. I built a waist mount system using all off the shelf components. Cost about $1k. And i think you could build one in a few days.
All you need to know is how to solder (which you can learn in 10 minutes).
The beauty of doing this is you can fix and mod everything. I'm already planning v2.
There is a huge global community of people doing this.

As a FYI and digression from the original post, the support for Manta TakeOff in Australia is outstanding. Same time zone, so immediate response and parts are kept in stock. The price of a TakeOff Flow system with 864Wh battery is less than 1/2 of the Fusion with the added advantage of an inrunner motor (sealed unit so no bearing issues, no need for lanolin spray etc)

I know it's easy to slag off the unknown, but my experiences with FoilDrive and now Manta have been extremely positive

Manta has a similar back as well that also fits the gen 2 foil drive. That's a lot of weight up high on your body. Seems like a crazy idea to me but never tried it. Here's another one . www.instagram.com/reel/DUBU50gjSlb/?igsh=MWR0bmNmZ2F6dXdqbg==

Yeah definitely agree, I'm really keen on a waist belt type system, I'm looking at a an older foildrive plus and maybe just bolt it to a harness or something, or wait to see if duotone release a separate minipod you can use without buying an integrated mast.

I'm a former FD Gen1 and Gen 2 user.
I tried a waist-belt home-built version but didn't like it. It felt like the battery pack sloshed around sideways too much, even when the belt was very tight.
I now put the battery in a Camelbak and it feels much more stable, perhaps because there's less swing weight around my spine.
I agree that backpacks seem like a bad idea when using a monster battery but I'm using a 10s3p and it's great!
Getting the battery weight off the board made an enormous difference in responsiveness, I totally recommend a backpack system. Just be ready to ditch it if necessary.
