Based in Newcastle NSW, I fell in love with the Orcas downwinding on Maui this winter. Subsequently, F4 Foils Australia was born.
Friends who have tried the gear suggested I post here to get the word out to those who have questions about the foils or the order process. If you are interested in a demo or would like any information you can contact me at:
f4foilsaustralia on Insta.
Happy foiling,
Pat

I'm on the East Coast USA and the Orca fever is spreading here as well. I'm waiting on a 685/530 with 85cm skinny mast. Can't wait to use for upwind/downwind parawinging.
My Armstrong gear has been amazing, and I'm keeping the setup for now, but I really feel like I need some faster upwind gains. Everything I've heard about the Orca sounds like it's exactly what I'm after.
I'd be keen for a try when you are in Perth too, however I think it would be the 1050 that I'd like to try.
Sounds like a nice sort of AR for fun dw.

Nice, I'll have a 1050 with me to demo ![]()
Nice. I'll be keen to test drive an Orca 685 or 800 when you are in Perth.
Hey Pete, we should do a run together if ya keen. I'll have both with me to demo plus the TE and skinny masts
I've had two parawing sessions on the 685/85AX/135xs and both sessions I've had Best Ever carves. 1st session I was blown away by the ability to peel off at high speed and absolutely crank off the top of the bump behind, immediately followed by a turn back the other way before reaching the trough.
Today I did a similar turn, but I pushed so hard off the top that the tail slid like a tail blow and I rode out without touching down, no drama. I've never done anything like that before. It felt amazing. I'm not sure if the tail came out the back of the swell or kept in the water (I had tunes cranking so I didn't hear anything).
The low end is ludicrous as well. It just has so much traction, it refuses to post hole.
I'm frothing on this gear after only riding Armstrong for 7 years. I can't compare to any other brands, but I would say it's better than the HA v2 and MA v2s best attributes combined. The skinny mast probably has a bit to do with it. I'm not saying Armies gear is bad by any stretch, but if you are looking to eek out that much more performance, test drive this gear!

Great to meet you Pat and thanks heaps for the chance to demo the gear.
It has left me with some serious decision making to do.
I have a full quiver of Axis foils, for dw it is mainly fireball, which I love and I am addicted to the glide.
If I was only interested in outright speed I would probably move to the Tempo's, however the largest tempo is only 746cm which is still on the small side for an older heavier guy.
The thing is I have been longing for a slightly surfier foil and have considered other brands with around 10AR but am reluctant to give up the glide of the fb which make down winding easier physically for an old guy.
The very first go on the 1050 F4 (with the standard mast not the skinny) it felt comfortable and fairly familiar straight away.
My very first paddle up on it I went for over 5km and only came down due to weed.
I continued on then had a couple of falls near the end of the run mainly because I was getting more and more confident and started pushing some harder turns.
For me and the characteristics I want for dw, it felt like a perfect blend of glide and manoeuvre-ability.
It is sill not a super surfy foil but very controllable and it still maintains really great glide.
The next 2 runs I tried out my new 1160 fireball (I had 1070 and 1250 last season) and really enjoyed that as well.
If I wasn't so invested into the Axis ecosystem I think I would definitely consider buying a F4 setup (and still might) however
I will be trying to get a go on a Tempo and the new Axis surf foil first.
I would recommend anyone that is in to downwind to have a go on an F4 if they have a chance, its a seriously good set up.
