With the Redbull illume 2023 Image Quest about to open submissions next month I've had a few crew who have asked how I go about some of my Fliteboard / Skydio 2+ solo shoots

Combing back through the last 18 months or so of footage that will be eligible and competition worthy - the scenic locations I have foiled on my Fliteboard in WA during COVID border closures are some of the best in the world

Since my family lives in Denmark and I was down there for Easter I had plans to re-visit the famous Elephant Rocks for this novelty session

As the 'dronie' skill is probably my signature go-to shot because it's easy to implement with Beacon only flights - I decided to do a raw drone flight with audio from my Instamic Pro+ and narrate what's involved in framing a cool shot

Unfortunately I got skunked on 3 consecutive early morning sunrise sessions over the long weekend by the fickle weather - resulting in overcast, flat lighting and garbage exposure, but I thought people will still get some info out of this flight

Settings - 4k60p 1/120th no ND filter (too low light, but still over exposure with the glare grrr!)

Any queries shoot me a DM @paularity_ on Instagram or check out all my Reels!

I've just started posting longer form content on my YouTube channel more frequently if you feel like subscribing

Beautiful spot.. You need to go back on a glassy and sunny day.

I'm not an expert on efoiling, but it sure looks to my eye like you're mostly riding at low speed for that wing - looks like just before stall where the lift is coming from fairly high angle of attack attitude. A little faster and things level out into a different mode of higher speed lift and stability. Any specific reason you're riding that way, or maybe I'm not perceiving things correctly? Cool video by the way - the drone work is amazing!

correct, well somewhat

Fliteboards don't really ever ride fully level always a little nose high regardless of speed

I only run a 900 so this kind of shoot would have benefited from a bigger slower wing, so with a shimmed stab I was definitely hovering around the stall speed

And I was riding slow because that was a very tight space for turning with really confused water so I didn't particularly want to eat it into the rock haha!

You did a great job in getting a couple of great shots and not going aground at the same time in a very tight space. I thought the first drone shot swooping in on you from above the rock downwards to behind you was the best overall. About 30 seconds of A+ footage that is world class IMHO. I ride an 1'st gen. Lift with folding prop and also have a drone and I think you're mad to do both at the same time, congrats on being able to seriously multi-task. Thanks for posting.
