I don't quite get it? is this just not a electric surfboard?
you would need the motor running all the time as the resistance would be so much the foil would not be that efficient anymore.
There is a way better way to do this if you wanted a motor on your foil board.
Very $$$$$$$ sport $1500 to $2000 for a foil, $1000 plus for the board and from what i know $2000 for the motor. sign me up i will take ten!!

no.. because electric surfboards don't fly above the water.. ![]()
next we need a longer mast.. ![]()
The nicest thing to do on a foil is a fully banked carving turn. It would be cool to lock your electric foil into a banked turn and go round and round and round...

Try $12,000 US and all sold out for 2017......
I will hopefully get to play with one in 6 weeks. 25mph for 1 hour on small battery , 1.5 hours on big battery . The batteries are mounted in the board.

i have had no interest in powered boards and foils..........
until now---the lessened drag of the foil, which will require significantly less power to keep going at speed than a regular board, combined with electric propulsion, will be a game changer
Not a fan for use in surf areas, just as bad as jet ski.
Yeah, I agree.Surely these things would be considered a powered watercraft, which that obviously seem to be, and would therefore require a licence of some kind. I'm not too familiar with Jet Skis needing a license so I could be way off here.
Anything with a blade like thing running through the water scares me to death.
I am not a fan of any toy with a motor, and there will be issues about licensing and operation. But jet ski? How do you get that?
It's electric. It's mostly silent. It's relatively slow. It will be barely moving off the foil. It's a ducted fan completely enclosed in a cowl. You'd have to assume it shuts off if you fall off (even with that the foil will glide or quite a few metres without you). The general public won't be able to ride one. It takes a few hours to learn to foil no matter what you're on. The crashes hurt.
Absolutely be pissed off if someone punts through a lineup on one (as you would on a SUP or longboard or ski or whatever)
I thought it could have been something you could rent to learn the first steps of SUP foiling, instead of a boat... but at such a high price...
C'mon guys lighten up it's an expensive man toy but sure looks like a lot of fun. Imagine that at Jaws, no more tow in surfing so less jet skis in the way and less people in danger with big sets out the back. If I could I would but I can't so I just enjoy others having fun with it!![]()

Totally agree,
not least because these foils will appeal most to the SUP crew, most of which are card carrying kooks already.
I reckon they'll get banned fairly quickly, and rightly so.

It sort of makes you think what's next to present itself in the line up.
Maybe a goat boat with a foil
Oh wait we now have the flyak
The flyak is a canoe with hydrofoils.
Wait until the Clubbies get hold of this one.
It might increase the ratings on Bondi Rescue with all the extra carnage on innocent bystanders
