Damn!! Check out these mad bastards
To me waves always feel bigger and more powerful when I am foiling so I can't imagine what that guy is feeling. The speed must be incredible
Yeah, the magic of surf foiling is taking crappy tiny surf and making it feel epic ... 1-2' waves and it feels exciting and dangerous again. Falling off wrong on a 3-4' wave can have painful consequences. Racing down the line on a shoulder high wave feels intense!
So multiply that times 5 or 10? Incomprehensible.
Some of the medium-big wave tow-in sessions I've watched, it seems manageable. When the waves swell up, but don't actually break, it looks like snowboarding. Without having to paddle in and make the drop, you'd already be going at speed, and as long as your wing is small enough and well-balanced, it looks doable. Just don't wipeout at speed!
But they are now getting closer and closer to the peak on breaking waves, with huge vertical walls ... and it gives me that heart-in-back-of-throat feeling. Too old and not enough cojones, pretty sure it'll never be me out there. ![]()

If I had a jet ski and waves that good Id be on a specific tow in surf board. Although only learning to foil, Ive towed in enough to realize that its already plenty fast, very scary and great fun without the added complexity of a foil.
