Hey team
Looking at the 7'7 DW board paired with my FD+ unit. Has anyone on here tried this set up I'd be keen to hear from you. using mainly in waves/ swell bump first before open ocean- out the very back of break and riding in. Initially will be using the cf v2 1200 and 1600 front wings to start with.
Any feedback advice be most appreciated ??
Thanks
I have a 7' x 24" DW board that gets on foil easily with the MA1225. With my old wing board I couldn't get the CF2 1200 to lift in flat water but haven't tried new board. Much easier to already be foiling as you pick up a bump or wave.
You're going to want a really long cable. Battery can be so far forward I don't even notice weight with mast placement of DW shape board. Also never loose connection anymore and I still have old controller.
Thanks for the reply. How did you find the stability of these narrow downwind boards- im 90kgs? My cable is 2m which is the max length recommended. I have seen some set ups were cable is run over the side of the board not down the back over the tail like you would for sup foil boards. How did you mount your box onto the board. Pretty sure there are no foot screw mounts. Do you notice the length- om coming from the FG 5'11? What tail wing did you use on yiur set up and were you on the new Performance mast..I'm still using the 85cm v2 mast - non A+.
Thanks again
The FD adds lots of stability getting up. DW nose/bottom shape also makes getting thru waves and chop easy so that helps with balance. FYI my board is pretty stable at 24" and feels shorter at 7' than my 5'11 wing board. The wing board really pushed a lot water which made it feel like a tanker.
For mounting I'm using velcro with a safety strap attached to lease plug. My box is mounted on a diagonal to get weight as far forward as possible.
I'm on the performance mast and 235 tail with either MA1225 or MA1750.
Thanks so much man..if you habmve any photos of you box mount and how your cable is installed/ guided I'd appreciate a look.
Happy foiling
My Sunova prone doesn't have footstrap holes right up front so I used heavy duty cloth tape to secure the Perspex mounting plate to the nose of the board, then mounted the box via 3M lock and a gruntstrap as per normal

Thanks man..looks like it's Bomb proof
Bunnings have these, work well for holding the cable. You need to use the black waterproof double sided tape not the supplied foam stuff (also from Bunnings). I use these when testing new boards rather than using the expensive Foildrive ones. Once I'm happy with a board I replace these with the Foildrive cable mounts.

Here you go:

I'm going to make it into a swallow so I gain some more cable and can move box to back of pad. Wish I thought of it sooner.

Awesome man thank you. Appreciate it. A guy over hete running his like this..pretty sure it's just to get box location. Even with my 2m cable I doubt it's going to go over the back , underneath to the mast.

2M cable should be good. Back of my mast is 62cm from tail + mounted 25cm off board + 15cm board thickness, which leaves quite a bit for mounting at pad or moving mast more forward (if needed). No need to wrap around side unless I'm missing something.

Awesome man...should arrive next week. Any tips on starting off, engaging FD or paddle technique to go straight..otherwise I'm pretty much gonna roll with how I sup foil on my 5'11 FG board and hooe fir the best?? looking at your pod position I'd say mine sits higher up the mast closer to the bottom of my board
I'm no expert at DW so recommend getting tips from someone who is, but I start like the prone guys: use drive to get moving (for stability) jump up and start foiling asap. I find the pod a little lower (25cm between pod/board) DW lets me get foiling easier in bouncy chop. Don't use a paddle so your experience may be dif. The FD really helps with the learning curve and makes even micro days fun! Look forward to hearing how you like the board.
