'Same Same but Different'?
Apart from the obvious differences(base plate and length).
Is there advantages over one or the other?
Please enlighten me? Thanks in advance![]()
Essential to use the 795 if you sup the larger ha's due to reduced flex. Improves confidence doing tighter turns when prone and will help you dial the ha's. I am 83kg and use only the ha for prone, wing and sup.
Im glad i forked out for the 795
Well I wasn't convinced there would be and I couldn't fault my A+ 85 so I didn't get one early on because they were so expensive ... then a 20% sale coincided with a upcoming birthday and now I have one ! Definitely stiffer in all axis , you feel directly connected to the foil which translates into total control in messy water and whitewater especially on the HA's. The pump is amazing all energy is transferred directly into foil, no little twitches or off centre wobbles while pumping just solid and easy to control. My first impression was that there was no drag it just slices effortlessly and silently through the water , which I wasn't expecting , all the other stuff like better pumping and turning I was hoping for and it delivered.I would not have thought a mast could make that much difference but it does.Compared to the 72 the 795 will be better for throwing around the wider HA wings too being longer. It's probably the best high modulus mast on the market atm as it is not just stiffer but faster as well.
Depends - where you at with your riding? Early in the game then 72 might do. Considering you are asking this question i will assume this is the case. But if you have ..
Been at it a while - the answer to the question is the 795 in every conceivable metric and by a relevant and noticeable margin mind you. But they arent cheap so you gotta make the cost benefit analysis yourself .
Just had my first day out on the 795. Been riding the old non+ 72 primarily (added the A+hole); SUP surf. Currently MA1225/60(old style)/205 on a Kalama E3 DW SUP. 5'8" 165# balding greying dude at my half-life about a year into my progression; guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of a hundred sessions.
The MA's are definitely a step up, and I saw an immediate benefit over the HS/HA and chopped V tail (on a 70 A+fuse).
The mast, we'll see, it may be the placebo effect, but I definitely felt like it was another step up for me. Some of the drops and turns that I'd feel some 'wonkiness' on in similar conditions previously were not present. it was just solid.
I assumed it was always me not being good enough, but maybe it actually was the gear adding that bit of flex that would then throw me off balance. Also noticed it in the choppy conditions the undercurrent which I'd previously feel flex, was more just a push if that makes sense
Length was good; added few inches saved a breach or two; and didn't have any bottoming out like I would with my 85 mast (stopped riding because of it at my normal spot).
Overall strong first impression.
I'll update as I get some more time on it. But right now I have a smile on my face. Cheers,![]()

Thanks heaps for all your valued opinions. I'm going with the 795 as I downwind the HA's A+ with v1 72 mast. \|||/
Had a quick moonlight ride in small rollers the other night on my 1325HA. New mast definitely eliminated most of the wobble I'd experienced prior. The remaining flex might be me, might be the old style fuse I'm using, or might just be the system flexing, but for the most part it went from bucking me off, to just noticing it with the mast change.
So yes as has been advertised the big wings it definitely makes a marked difference even for those of us on the first half of the talent curve.
Guys I'm looking at getting an MA wing for sup foiling and possibly prone...my go to at the moment is the CF V2 1200 /sometimes the V21600 if its small and weak -with 232 tail.(previously i used the 1550) i'm 85kgs . Was looking at either the ma1000 or ma1225 but what would fit my current quiver . I'd say I'm an intermediate+ foiler
Thanks

Id start with the 1225 based on the above and go from there.

Great choice. Im yet to hear one person regret the outlay and the benefits are very clear on the water on every single variable. Its not a minor amount of money though but It is also not a minor benefit either.

Thanks man. Appreciate the feedback. I was worried it might overlap my cf vz1200 but speaking to a dealer yesterday he said the 1225 was a very different wing/ experience to the cf v2 1200 . The ma1000 might be a step too far.

I SUP foil the 1225 and wing it a lot as well. Fantastic foil. Easy to ride and tons of performance in it. Rides well in gutless waves and can handle more power and size too. 232 chopped works great on it but prefer the 205 and 235 tails on it. 50 fuse makes it really responsive. Love this foil and looking forward to the MA1000 I've ordered for both disciplines.
