Yeah howdy
Just wondering if anyone has one of the Project Cedrus Masts with built in FoilDrive, wondering about its construction & performance:-)

I have Cedrus mast but not the Foil Drive one. In my opinion Cedrus masts are built to a very high standard and you will not be disappointed. If I had a Foil Drive, I would definitely buy one for the performance benefits reducing the drag from the cord at the back of the mast.

Yes but I am wondering how the power cord goes thru the mast and if this weakens the mast at all & how is it all permanently set etc?:-)

Probably worthwhile if you're using the Foildrive for efoil, would really reduce the drag. But if using for prone, sup, pump or winging the prop is rarely in the water, only for the initial takeoff so cable drag is less of an issue.

Also, the pod is fixed, can't be moved so your either efoil location or surf location, limits the versatility of Foildrive.

There is still a lot of drag when the FD Pod is fitted 20cm from the board hull (which I think is the ideal position for everything:-)

The cable is just behind the back mast bolt.
It comes out of the top of the mast.
I think the integrated cable is going to feel very good, even in assist mode. Cedrus is also doing custom CNC Ali fuselages for GoFoil, Armie and some other brands now.

Agree with this, I have my FD 160mm from the board for assist only. Could not go back to aluminium mast with all the corrosion issues. Love the maintenance free GoFoil carbon mast.

But the pod is rarely in the water, and the cable being above the pod, cable drag only an issue when starting off.

And I too use carbon masts, the difference to alloy is really noticeable. Going back to alloy would be a backwards step.

Yer for sure the simplicity of a carbon mast in terms of low or no maintenance is great. However I have been playing around with the foil drive on a prone (Dom Hoskings style!) and the difference in efficiency of the Cedrus mast makes is massive. Now I am heavy (like 94kg) and with the cable drag on my go foil mast I can only get up with a fully or better than 60% battery. Once changed over to a Cedrus mast with the cable hidden I am able to get up with a battery charge anything better than 30% and I can actually drop the throttle down to 80% when belting around. I considered drilling out a go foil mast but gave up on that idea in case I destroyed it. Most of the drag is the cable and not the pod. Now I can used my go foil wings on the Cedrus it made prone foil drive a reality for me. I can tell you guys I am absolutely loving it!

Yeah Great Scotty I was thinking the same as you about drilling my GoFoil Mast so I am wondering how the cable from the FD Pod connects/is inserted into the Cedrus Mast and if the same can be done on the Gofoil Mast?:-)

Like I said I am not prepared to take the risk of destroying a $1000 mast and it probably void your warranty on your FD too. The cedrus is working good now there's a go foil adapter and now yes I have more maintenance but super happy with how it's performing. Quite stiff for an alloy mast.

Well I think I can get access to a proper drill press work station so I think I might be able to drill a hole into the back of the Go Foil Mast but just wondering if it is hollow & how thick the base plate is so I could fit the FD cable?:-)

Solid carbon I am told . I don't think it being solid is an actual issue if you're able to drill accurately. You get one shot at it and as long as you get it right all good. Also you will need the skills to modify your foil drive connections as you be on your own in terms of any warranty I assume. It's doable no doubt but will require skill!

Looks great if you need it but it looks to me like you are way too good a foiler to need it. I am sure you ride much better again without the penalty.
