I've had 2 Wing sessions on borrowed foil/board kit of friends. Really enjoying it! Pumping the foil, long flights, making some turns now. Long time windsurfer, kiter, wave SUPer, pick up things reasonably quickly. I've ordered a board (Sunova Aviator 6.4", 115 L) for mostly winging and some SUP foiling. I'm second guessing my choice (too big?) The next size down is 6.2" and 106 L. The Hypernut 7.8" with 116L I tried wing foiling on first feels like a barge and then the 6.8 I tried next (volume and brand unknown) felt so much better. Am I better to go for the 6.2 X 106L Sunova Aviator or the 6.4 X 115L for a better dual-sport experience? I'm confident that the smaller board is fine for me winging but am concerned with SUP foiling being too difficult. My regular wave-SUP is a Hypernut 7.4 X 105L and I paddle it comfortably. Would I suffer too much on the SUP foiling side on the 106 with stability seeing that it is over a foot shorter than what I'm used to paddling? I'm new to surf foiling as well. Thanks!

For me the width makes a huge difference at 85 kg eithet of those boards would probably be okay if they were 28 or more wide but if 26 they would be too hard. I would still go for the bigger one though to make it better in choppy conditions. I ride a Naish 64 x 31 125 litre which is supet comfortable I also have a 6 x 28 which is ok but takes a lot more concentration. I mostly use the bigger board

For winging you can probably go to a volume that is arround your weight (once you are very comfortable with the wing). Having a bigger board to shorten your learning curve is nice. In the long run the smaller board will be more beneficial.

The challenge lies with SUP. As you do not have the stability of the wing, you would need more volume, or be really comfortable on the board.

I wing with an 80 liter board, weighing in at 81/82 kg without gear. This floats me in hardly any wind with the additional balance of the wing. For sup foiling I use an Aviator 5'10. I was concerned it was too small at 84,5 liters, but actually it is really stable for its size. The bottom shape really helps here! Obviously the foils also adds stability.

I would say the 6'0 aviator would be perfect for wing, but might be a bit too challenging for sup. The 6'2 might be the nice compromise in the middle board. The 6'4 will be quite comfortable for sup, but I would say (in the long run too) big for wing.

Hope it helps...
