Hi everyone,
Does anyone have a 2022 hyper nut foil 5-IN-1?
My current board is knackered and entertaining the idea of finally buying a new board.
Old board is a Naish 120 and I was using it for windfoiling and sup mainly.
New board that I would be looking at using for windfoiling, sup, foil sup, wing foil and windsurfing.
I'm 87kg and thought the 135l might be a good board.
Any thoughts on the starboard board or any other boards that you love that fit the criteria?

What foil are you using? What are your local wind conditions like? What level do you SUP at?

Just bought an S27 Crossover and had 1 paddle on it in 3-5 waves with fin not foil. Hopefully this board will help me learn how to foil . It felt reasonable stable and I could paddle it..just. A lot smaller than my current surf SUP and the waves were way too big for a first trip out but I can see that this will work for me. 7 ft and 115 lt. More big waves today so back on the old board and leave the learning for a smaller day

I've got the 2022 Hypernut 7'2 x 28. So far I've surfed it maybe half a dozen times and had my first Sup foil session a few days ago. Always wanted one for surfing and using it to learn to Sup foil got me over the line. I'll give it a go winging but know it's just going to feel ridiculous compared to my 4'9 Wingboard

This is the one board I think it's important to go for the lightest carbon construction. Usually I can't justify but weight is everything for foiling.

Absolutely love it for surfing, I'm only 64kg so it's big for me but it is so fun at my local beach break. Sup foil session went really well, got up on foil on three waves so I'm stoked. Still in the first hit of new board confirmation bias so maybe temper my enthusiasm slightly but so far - awesome.

Handle position is set up for foiling - it's even a bit too far back to balance with a foil set so it's impossible for carrying as a Sup with fins. Complete PITA! I'm going to get some 15mm webbing and make a handle that basically sits flat on the top of the board and fix it to two of the footstraps insert screws. I've had to resort to carrying it in the bag down to the beach.

5-in-1 is a big ask of any one board.
I'd say better off having 2 boards.
2in1 Sup and Windsurf - circa 8'- 10'
3in1 Foil Sup/wing/wind - circa 6' - 6'8"
SMIK and Sunova will put a mast track in any board you want if you get a custom order. I even had a sail mast track retro fitted to a foil board for $200
locally.

Foils: Naish 1650 jet and Naish foil 2017 malolo (1030 ish), masts 55 and 75cm
SUP level: last year I could catch small waves and go "wuuuhhhh" but nothing radical. Can't step back turn. I think if someone was watching from the beach it might be a little bit comical as I fall off often. I think I would be better suited on larger sup and with experience, working my way down but my finances won't allow that.
local area: river mouth break, sand, unpredictable breaking waves / wind is cross, cross on
Plan:
no waves / no wind: sup
small waves up to chest / no wind: sup, sup foil, prone foil
big waves over chest / no wind: body surf and float around in the ocean
no waves to little waves / 10 knots up to 20knts: wing (never done it) and windfoiling (I'm okay, can't do flying gybe)
waist waves / 10knots to 20knts: windsurfing float and ride, sup
after that back to wave sailing but this is the off-season so it's going to be dependably crap conditions.
I am really after the one board to rule them all (I know it is a fantasy). Most probably I will look at the forecast and report, toss a 7m, 6m foil, one board, 2 x wings, paddle, and all the other junk.

I really liked my Naish board. I board it mainly to learn how to windfoil and sup. For foiling, it was very forgiving when I breached and the nose went back into the water. For sup, at the start, I found it very short and hard to use but I got used to it and found it fun to sup on. But still needed a lot of concentration to not fall in. For 90 plus kg (I was a little bit heavier) it was a little small for my needs. My level of sup experience was mainly the problem. I'm just going to stay away from Naish though as I was disappointed with the quality. Not to rain on your parade, it could have been a one-off from the factory. Here is the thread showing problem

Great news. Any issues with quality? My previous experience with Starboard has always been very good (very sure other people will have some horror stories though).
Thanks for the tip about weight, I will be going for the blue carbon edition.
Also liked going surfing on my Naish board, that wide shape makes it very easy to catch waves.
Yeah, I hear you about wing foiling. Do you think it will be okay for a beginner winger? My plan was, if I get hooked, to then buy a smaller wing board, maybe next year.
Like you idea about the DIY carry handle, if I get the board, I might have to borrow that idea.

I'm like a little bowerbird when it comes to water gear, so much stuff (not all of it is blue). I do agree with you though. I think the hypernut would fit the larger board requirements and then later on I could get a smaller board if winging becomes part of my world. And from what I hear it looks like many people are converting over so it might be on the cards.
Great looking boards.

Yeh, fair point on the Naish. So far I've had no issues with all of mine. At 87 kg the board floated me but I need to do some practice in flat water before I go out again. Jumped back on the 9'5" today and scored great head to Overhead waves and felt very comfortable. Hopefully I can get there with the 7'.

This board feels absolutely bulletproof, no soft spots, light and perfectly finished. Handle is my only beef.
I think it will be perfectly fine as a beginner wingfoil board, it has a very fast rocker line, I'm sure it will get up early, I'll give it a try and report back. For me my priority was using it as a beach break Sup board, it's superb in that role, so fast and easy to flick around. Huge bonus to also use it to learn surf Sup foil and nice to have a beginner wing board for friends and family.
I'm also going to try it with a wing in small surf with fins rather than foil. Inspired by Kane deWilde's Instagram post - I know he is from another planet in terms of skill but it might be fun!

I am 92kg but I wear a 6mm wetsuit 6 months of the year. I have the older 7'4" 106L 4-in-1 that I use for windfoiling and wavesailing. I don't SUP well enough to paddle it in waves but if there is any wind at all I'll happily wavesail it until I can hop right on my waveboard. It takes quite a stomp to turn but once you get that figured out it rides waves far better than it's width would indicate.
Personally I think it's brilliant as a do everything board. What I want is more volume, inboard straps and foil tracks which it seems the 2022 offers. Mine is the Starlight construction and I'm unsure if I'd spend 50% more to drop 1kg, in the 2022 models there is another construction between the two for weight and I'd probably go with that.
At your weight I'd absolutely get the 7'4" version.

Henners, where are you located?
Maybe going Custom could deliver you the perfect board.
I had two of the boards you're looking for from Mojo Customs, Hungary.
I'm selling the latest sibling atm, because I went the 2-board way, 1 wingboard and 1 Sup/Windsup

oww no you had to use the word absolutely, now I am second-guessing myself. I was planning on getting the 8'
I have a 105 freewave board and an 86l wave board.
The off-season here is just horrible. I go completely around the twist, about 3 months of nothing, no wind. But there are waves. I am guessing that in the end this board will be mainly used for SUP, SUP foil, surfing, and prone foil, in that time. And when there is wind I will start the relearning process with wingfoiling and keep going with wave sailing, windfoiling, and light wind training.
I always found the previous 120L hard to get going in windfoiling (I'm inexperienced) and when SUPing foot placement was so important otherwise the nose would dig into the water. So I thought an extra 15L might come in handy.
I noticed that the package comes with 3 footstraps. I presume that you need 4 straps for wind foiling though. Is that correct, do you need to buy another footstrap, could not imagine that the back foot sits in the middle of the board?

Hi AlexF,
good looking board there at Mojo Customs.
I'm located in Japan so the shipping is always a problem. Also, for me, it's nice to have a local shaper so you can try it before buying.

The 8' would be a tank foiling, no fun at all. From what I understand these designs do not SUP well in bigger sizes either, Colas is the resident expert on this shape for that purpose.
Even the 7'4" is too long for winging and borderline for SUP foil.
I windfoil on mine most of the time, I need about 12-14kts to make it work with a 5.3 and it won't support a larger sail.

What is "no" wind in your location? I've wavesailed this board in maybe 6-10kts no problem when the waves weren't too punchy.

Less than 15knts would be the type of conditions. That is not constant in the offseason that is the best I could hope for.
When you windfoil is it flat conditions? Are you good at windfoiling? With the take-off are you good at pumping?
Where is all the volume on the SUP? The Naish board felt like it was even across the whole board. It was good for foiling but was a huge challenge for SUP.
I've used 6 and 7m Ezzy hydra sails on the Naish board. Only a handful of sessions on each one, so I could not give a proper evaluation. What happens when you use a larger sail?
In the previous 2 years, I think I have taken 10kgs off and planning and trying for a bit more, so I might be in the 90 something kg mindset still.
I am very interested to hear your answers. Really don't want to be stuck with something that I won't enjoy.

Windfoiling mainly in 0.5-1.5m rolling short period swell and my focus is riding that swell. I'd say I windfoil like many people wing but with a mix of depowered riding and powered carves.
I'm an intermediate foiler, make half my gybes flying on a good day.
The board is "sticky" and takes some technique to get going. Partially due to low volume (it slogs with a wet deck) but mostly because it has the rocker to turn on a wave. No way to get around that and still work on a wave. Best suited to larger area "surfy" foil.
Volume is definitely biased towards the tail. I can slog it pretty easily with my feet in the straps when foiling if I have a little power. When wavesailing I definitely have to move around to catch waves but nothing like as much as on a traditional SUP.
Going bigger on sail size just seemed to press it down without adding any benefit. I'll see if having the mast track further back helps that at all.

I managed to find a 7'4" board.
Absolutely crazy here. I contacted Starboard and they said I could preorder for next year's board and it would be delivered in October this year. That is without seeing next year's design.
But I did find a starboard limited series 5 in 1 hyper nut. I do like a bit more colour in my boards but I think when it comes to fixing up, it won't be hard to colour match. Also, the cost is about 1000 AUD cheaper than the carbon one.
