Yes it is. He has some pics on the Thrust KS and the Thrust Surf Medium while riding that Hover 112.

he is defiantly not on a production foil here, its imposable to extrude tapered aluminium.
I hear they are testing a huge number of set ups so would expect him to be using something different already and a lot more advanced.
is this one of there boards for this year?
Can't wait to see this guy come in first over the line on a foil board if there is a class and wind come race day in the hood this weekend.
Hopefully he remembers his paddle since it is a paddle race not that kai would really need it on a foil board with pumping swells.

Correct,this is a prototype race foil and board. Not in production. Kai is always caught testing new ideas and developing, but that's how Naish keep advancing.

My Naish Thrust Large wing turned up yesterday , took it out this morning. Very impressed , beautiful build quality. Nice foil with great lift and heaps of speed with amazing stability , very easy to ride.
Compared to the Kai Go Foil the mast and fuselage is 50mm shorter with a 10 to 15 % larger front wing . Rear wing pretty similar . First wave had me sold 3 strokes and I was foiling. I've tested so many foils and never gone wow like this one on my first wave. I'll put the cameras on tomorrow and put together a video. Super Impressed.

That would have to be the best endorsement for a foil you could get in Australia. Everyone knows the naish boys are frothing over it and they are honest lads but many will always think they have an invested interest in promoting it.
A plug from Piro's that has no ties to naish and has tested most of the foils around that's pretty solid.

Lace we are so on it that's where we all are , first big blow with same direction swell we are all over it . Snapper to the Seaway. Best foil will win .

I Think it will be the next generation of paddlers coming through that will make that happen, seems like the cardio level to DW on a foil comfortably and confidently over a decent amount of distance takes a certain level of fitness that is beyond most punters.
There has to be some teenage surfers on the gold coast out there that rip that will eventually get into foiling.

Putting this foil together was absolute joy, every component lined up with absolute engineering precision.
The complete kit is a lot lighter than the other foils I have held, at 75 kg's I have gone with the Medium size wing.
Current foil board is a local made 8'2 with some rough shark camouflage graphics.
Retro fit of fin box's completed by my local repair guru using JB's current Naish position guidelines.
Excited to say the least on being able to participate in a new form of riding and flying sideways.
Just got back from 3 weeks on Maui, pretty much every time I did a Maliko run there were guys doing foil runs. Seems like mainly on 7 or 8 foot boards. I always went to the Harbour but I guess they came into Kanaha. Amazing seeing them just flying past. Winds weren't ballistic at all, often just 15 to 20 and certainly some lighter patches. Didn't ever see any of them other than up foiling except when they were getting going. Kinda regular maui crew, all pretty fit but not teenagers that's for sure.

sounds good and compared to the maliko?
Tried my first downwind run, about 14 knots, small swell. Could not get flying, got close a couple times when a decent trough come through. On a 9,3 board still got a few decent runs and covered the small distance about 4klms in what seemed pretty quick, found the foil stability great.I k of every one is going small boards for foiling, but I thought when I was out their, if I had the foil on my 14 , with the extra paddle speed, I probably would have got it flying.
How wide is ur board TT? My train of thought for foil down wind is something narrow like the width of a race board 25/27 wide also something with volume like a race board that glides better than a surf style sup . Just not to long.
Would something 14 foot be to long run nose into back of front swell as one on foil would be moving pretty quick ?

Yeah your probably right, have talked too jake about it he reckons it wouldn't work ,obviusley the glide on a wide 9,3 surf sup is not great. But remember our swells are not like Hawaii, my ideas would be to mount the foil a lot further forward than we seen when the guys where first riding the cut down 12,6 boards. As for hitting the swell in front, I do t think it would be a problem once the board is flying. My 14 is only 24 wide, very light and I reckon it would work for our conditions.Any way I'm going too try it, as I'm a mad experimenter ?

I have a real desire to try a miniature 8' starboard ace style board, I'm not sure exactly why though just feel like it should be done I just have to figure where on the priority it sits on my list of boards to build. I'm defiantly going to re visit my 10'6 x 24 and put a plate mount in it to try some of the new foils on it.

So stoked you're gliding with ease. One little one I'll share with you, is make sure your front foot in on the center line, you;re standing in a bit of a diamond stance, having your front foot across the center line makes quite a difference.

I have been building a few shapes similar to that the past few months and i still feel there is something out there that will be a lot better I'm just not sure what it is yet but I have a load more ideas to try.
