I'm probably a bit behind the times here ( HS 1050 has been out for a while ) but thought I would pass on my experience with this wing.
Dont know where to start really , but what an amazing weapon of a wing. It's so fast, accelerates really quickly and turns on dime, and If that's not enough you can pump back out and connect , which totally surprised me cause I thought it would be too small for me to pump. The the other surprise was how well it goes even in smaller surf (2ft) and great glide which I wasn't expecting either.
You do have to work it in the smaller stuff ( lots of turns ,stay high etc ) but it's so efficient that if you keep it moving it's incredible what it can do.
I was really just expecting to use it for larger waves and tow surfing , but I am totally blown away by its overall performance especially in the smaller waves .
Ive had it out in head high waves so far and haven't even looked like reaching its limits so will be interesting to tow surf when we get some decent swell to see what it can handle.
Sky Rama said just get it you won't ride anything else, I know what he means now ,even though I think there is times where the other wings are more suited.( mushy wind swell , go the 1550 or 1750 then)
Its not a learners wing my setup is 1050/72/60/232 +1 which is plenty performance for me right now , and don't think I would need to ever go as far as Sky on 1050/60/60/212 +1 Which would be a handful I recon.
There seems to be a fair overlap with the Armstrong wings each being able to reach into the next ones territory a fair way ,which makes it hard to decide which wing to take out on a certain day ,and also which one to buy.
Sorry for the frothy rave but just when you think this sport can't get any better it just does !
Oh man, now you have me confused about waiting for the hs1250 - also think I'm lighter than you (72kg)?
1st world problem lol
Sorry can't help as I've only ridden the 1850,1550,1200,and 1050. If I had to pick 1 wing only probs 1550 still, as it covers the biggest range from tiny to shoulder high and Im able to pump and connect regularly on it.
If I lived in an area that had consistent waist high + I would go the 1050 , the pump is much faster and energetic and I probs wouldn't connect as often as I do on the 1550 but I'm only new with it and I'm improving on the pump all the time.I recon the 1250 would have to be a weapon too if it's based of the 1050 and will probably overlap more into the 1550 area which will make it even better in the small stuff and probs pump easier too.Not sure how it would go in overhead and bigger, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have any worries with the 1050 which was the main reason I bought it , not expecting how good it is for smaller waves too.
Just note : it's surprising good in smaller waves but you have to ride high or do lots of turns to keep the speed going , which makes for an energetic , fast all over the place kind of ride, as opposed to just standing there and cruising along on a bigger wing without having to do much. ( hope that makes sense )
Hi,
Did your try it for wingfoiling ?
What do you think will be the windrange for a 67kg rider with a 4m ?
Thanks
I love the 1050 for winging. Only had it out a few times with a 5M swing in the 18-22mph range. Once in 25mph with 3M BRM wing in rough short period onshore conditions. It goes insane. 65kgs w/ 74l board.
Anyone got some 1050 pictures compared to other Armstrong wings ?
1050, 1550, 1850, 2400 all lined up by fuse connection point.

Thanks ! Maybe the 1250 will be more " All Round "

I'm going to be tempted to get the 1250. May sell my 1550 and keep the 1850 for small swell/light wind.

If the 1250 is anything like the 1050 ,it will be a smoker.......you will probably get it before us over here so keep us posted
This gives you an idea of how the 1050 goes in the smaller waves.www.instagram.com/tv/CEMwZJzj4ME/?igshid=sosp6dwygkaf

I already have the 1550. I wonder to go for the 1050 or to wait for the 1250 for winging. I am 65KG. I am scared of the gap between the 1250 and the 1550 being to small
You won't be disappointed if you go the 1050 , The 1250 is thinner and more high aspect so it may be just as fast as 1050 with more glide .....hard to say have to wait and see.The 1050 is a smoking surf wing paired with the 1550 you have it covered that's why they sell them as a combo.
