Been learning on a 65cm and getting pretty comfy on it even in lumpy bay swell. I used the supplied plate adapter to give me an extra 7cm the other day which did reduce touchdowns and breaching but felt a bit vaguer and harder to pump. Was it just in my head? Haven't tried wing foiling in the surf yet but I'm guessing I'll need a 75cm for that?

I was a bit disappointed when I went longer (55 to 65 initially, then to 85). In my head longer was the more 'advanced' option so was expecting some sort of performance increase but initially it slowed everything down a bit and felt a little more disconnected from the foil. Also with the extra length and extra leverage the foil has on the board it meant you needed to be more precise with your control, especially when taking off, and be totally balanced over the foil. Can't start off unbalanced and recover...

The main benefit for me are getting lifted over the brutal wind against tide chop I get and you soon tune into the feel and becomes natural but not immediately - took me a session or two.
