I suggest you join the TopHat Facebook group. They have a huge depth of knowledge & experience with these boats.

so i dont need a structural furler! but i do need one with a foil if i want to reef and its interesting that i cant find one website in australia that sell these furlers,,like a profurl c290,,, many sell the bottom drum and swivel on their own,, boatwarehouse, whitworths,,, is it that hard to find or do you have to use a rigger?

I've owned a Top Hat, and also installed one of these to a 27ft Albin Vega. Great bit of kit and easily retrofitted to to existing forestay whether or not you have recently replaced it.

Yep, a C290 is the correct model for a Top Hat. I brought mine through my sailmaker who also made the sail.
If you are thinking of using your Genoa, you will need to make extensive alterations to it.
Cheaper to get a new sail and the Furler through a sailmaker.
I'm at Laurieton, but if you cannot find a local sailmaker I can out you in touch with one here who did my Furler.

I've used an Alado furler on both my yachts, and have even used the genoas half-furled while having wind to 30 knots.
They have twin grooves, so you can fly 2 sails if you want.
Price and customs duty is included in the competitive price. Unfortunately I don't see the price, without being prepared to buy.
Easy for a sailmaker to adapt a sail to the bolt-rope required.
