They can be complicated little beasts Steve, here is a link to the manual.

I watched the riggers do mine there is a couple of screws at the join. There is also a sleeve that is inbetween each joint.

Another and probably better option is to get a rigger to install it you will probably need a new forstay anyway.

Haven't pulled one down yet, but I can attest to what Twodogs said, inner sleeves and 4x screws with Loctite blue for each extrusion join. Took a good 4 x hours with me and one pro to put mine together.
Hope they didn't use red on you!

If it is the same as mine, what you have to do is slide the plastic inner bearing tube end past the extrusion join to allow the joiner pin/rod enough room to be extracted.

Bit hard to describe without photos but the trick is to slide the inner bearing tube past the join.

The assembly/disassembly process is a progressive from join to join.

Buy a Reefit and you'll never have that issue ;)

We have pulled apart units over 10 years old with no problem at all!!

To take it off the boat that was pretty much submerged in mud was difficult. I cut the wire at the head. I guess this boat was under water 6 months. I got it all apart and in my top hats lockers. Just need to clean up the top and bottom bits. Few barnacles but its gonna be fine and fits my boat.
I got the manual online yay.

When you look at the Reefit website www.almasts.com.au/furling-systems/ there is a lot of detailed information and the quality of the components in the photo's look pretty good

It is good to see an Aussie company making and selling something in Australia as opposed to selling something made overseas

If i was in the market for a furler i would have a good look at this product

Regards Don

We (I work for Almasts) make a furler that is head and shoulders above most, it's just convincing people that not buying the import is actually better.

Just to my right from where I am sitting is the CAD program for the furlers, we CNC router or lathe nearly all the parts here, all the materials in Oz and on top of that they are cheaper than the others!!

The other advantage is assembly. We can go up the mast, remove the old furler, make a new forestay, assemble the furler and then go back up the mast to haul the new one up and install, 2 people less than 3 hours. You can also install ours from the boat and slide up the forestay!!

Start here
www.almasts.com.au/the-system/

and here showing the joint/bearing with no S/S to ally apart from the machine screws

We are also now making every unit with split (removable) drum plates so the whole drum can be taken off for racing.
