Hello Seabreeze.
I was looking through the grays auction in radelaide and came across a sportscraft sensation with 7 hours left in the auction with a winning bid of $209 on it. So I threw in a silly offer and won sight unseen. So now I have a small trailer sailer! I've had a look through it and towed it to my workplace where i can effect repairs. the trailer is in great condition with bearing buddies that didn't seize (I'm still going to change them) the boat itself looks okay all the sheets and halyards are moss covered and sun damaged and same with the exposed cleats. It comes with a nice main but no jib.
So now my question, does anyone know anything about them? What jib will fit and work well? What size outboard will get me away from the boat ramp? 1-4hp?
I can't find much online at all other than old sales posts. Any ideas on what to put as a rating? I'm planning on teaching my girls to sail especially in Adelaide Springs when it's still nice and breezy
Thanks for any info, oh also should I get a small depth sounder GPS speed log or just use a tablet?
What is a 'Sportscraft Sensation"? Someone might know, but length overall, weight/displacement, some photos would help.
Second-hand sails can be bought on Sail Xchange: www.sailexchange.com.au/collections/booms-used?utm_source=seabreeze.com.au and Ebay, if you've measured the mast, foot etc.
If you have a choice of motors, bigger is better, providing you can physically lift it. E.g. if you have a choice of between 4, 5 and 6 HP, then 6 would keep you out of trouble better.

There's a registered business name Sportscraft Fibreglass Boats held by Timothy Hearse - first registered in 1986. The address on the registration for the principal place of business is172 Tapleys Hill Rd Royal Park SA 5014. While I know nothing about the boat you've bought, perhaps Sportscraft made a foray into small sailing boats back in the 80s/90s. They're apparently still building power boats in Adelaide. A Tim Hearse is described elsewhere on Seabreeze as the principal of Pacific Marine, a boat dealership in Adelaide, which has as its address 6 - 10 Tapleys Hill Rd, Royal Park SA 5014. And a contact number of (08) 8444 2444.
