On that point. There are so many old mooring minders around. Surely someone must strip them and sell the parts that are worth something.

My bolt on ladder was round tube and folded up in half. Great for getting back onto the boat after swimming, but hard on the old feet. My mates folding ladder was also round tube but had teak treads. Much better for standing on.

Give the guys at The Boat Locker in Warriewood a call. They had a couple of boat ladders there last time I was in. I was going to buy one for the stainless - needed a couple of bends for a project.
On the mooring minder question - yes absolutely, but unless you have a good storage area and also access to a friendly & cheap slipway to cut up the carcass, and then some method of disposing of the unwanted pieces...ultimately it stops being cost effective.
I would love to hear suggestions for a maybe 2m telescoping solid detachable ladder, long so it extends a fair bit below the water line so its possible to get a foot on it while swimming. Idea being if anyone fell off they could get back on a bit more easily than with the steps on the transom.
Thanks for suggestions, platforms good idea. Will need some thought how to do it. Stern of Martzcraft is clear of the water and a bit of an awkward shape.
I had a quote of 2000 to make a fiberglass one for the little. Didn't go ahead as would have had to change the whole pushpit.
I have the clip on type removable it goes when unfolded it goes about 2 rungs into the water.
