Zulu OFFLINE
We have been working hard on a much asked for OFFLINE version of Zulu Waterways and it is now up and ready for testing.
We are currently looking to the community for testers of the Android alpha version. (Development of the iOS version will follow.) This is your chance to give us feedback and suggestions before the official release and it will really help us to see how well it is working and if any changes need to be made.
The new offline version contains the following:
-World-wide Zulu data available offline.
-Satellite imagery and other downloadable map types storable to your device.
-Ability to Sync and view your existing Navionics charts.
-Ability to add new markers while offline which can later be synced with the community once reconnected.
-Commenting on existing markers while offline.
If you would like to help with this stage of the development of Zulu OFFLINE by testing it, we would really appreciate it but remember that this is only an alpha version. This means that while the core functions are working well the app is still in the developmental stages.
To become a tester, either comment below or send your email address (preferred) to zuluwaterways@gmail.com and we will send you a download link with instructions.
If you don't know what Zulu Waterways is a community fuelled cruising guide. You can see the website version here, www.zuluwaterways.com.
Sounds like a good solution to me. Just a couple of simpleton questions. Does this mean we don't need Navionics anymore? and what's the etiquette with publishing secret spots?
The web version has free charts which you don't need a subscription or anything for. For the offline version, Navionics requires you to have a subscription in order to transfer over your charts to the Zulu app. No subscription needed for satellite imagery though. In terms of secret spots. That's your call. The community who use Zulu are pretty cool cats so sharing with them is a good thing in my opinion.
