Amazing - somehow an inexperienced couple who have transferred from Youtube Van lifing to Youtube showboating couldn't hack it when the mast fell down and needed rescuing. Hit that EPIRB as soon as stuff happens and get out the GoPro!
I don't know what beggars belief more. That anyone watches this stuff or that people could be that stupid and take off with no experience and not keep quiet about your incompetence - I certainly liked it better when there was more introspection and less woo hooing.

There is always Madison Boatworks for those who like to see an attractive young couple without the breast shots, sans the woohooing and with oodles of competence.
Years ago the RYA scheme preached you need a " body of knowledge coupled with a body of experience".
Some of our new YouTube experts are pretty special.
and the scary thing is the views they rack up.
Anyhoo!
Stupidity is hardly new.
The ability to view the single stupidest thing anyone in the world did today hours after it happens is.
I mean, the book about the golden globe wasn't called "a voyage for perfectly sane rational people not seeking attention" was it?
There are 2 new local entrants in the "i am just brilliant so watch me category" one of whom regulatory racks up around 40k to 60k views a video, while the other racks up a few thousand.
Just puzzling to me.
Life is too short to give any of my precious time to things)people) that I have no interest in.
That is why I hang out here.
We (the influenced?) can turn off the cr#p on TV etc and find something of value on the internet.
And there is a lot of that.

Gary you virtually quoted the Smiths song:
"In my life,
Why do I give valuable time,
To people who I'd much rather,
Kick in the eye."
My rant is one premised on the wonder of why watchers don't pursue excellence. I can't watch the Woohoo tee shirt breast popping Youtubes myself,. This story popped up in the news and I looked into it, wondering why people are jumping off boats that are dismasted. It seems to be a thing that calling for help from a boat sans rig is now normal. I hope if it happens to me I would channel my inner Peter Blake on Ceramco or David Lewis on Icebird and get my lovely boat home. Otherwise I will keep really quiet and hope no one notices. My best one is the submarine that sailed home after water got in its fuel - Shackleton-esque
My worst one was the Seadog bloke who asked for help after he got hit by a blow he could have outrun had he run his engine for about 12 hours in the calm before the well forecast storm. That guy cruising is stupidity manifest in different locations. I don't watch him either now.
