On the other side of this thing is a cable that was connected (I believe) to a stereo system I was removing. What is it for?
Definitely the antennae base for either the VHF or 27meg radio.
Don't think i would be removing it unless you relocating the antennae.
That makes sense. I already have an antennae mounted at the top of the mast. Thanks
