Good day everyone,
My partner and I are looking at buying a small yacht to get us started with sailing. Going to inspect this tomorrow: https://www.boatsales.com.au/boats/details/1988-woolley-raven-26/SSE-AD-6185848/?Cr=0
The ad states it's a Raven 26 - However it looks nothing like a Raven, plus the rego search is saying it's a 1980 Saxby 26. I've not heard of any 'Saxby' sailboats and I was hoping the friendly crew here could share their input and opinions as to what make boat it is!
I'm not too fussed in regards to what it is, it still looks like a nice little boat to get started sailing in.
Any input appreciated! Thanks guys.
Could be a one-off special. Also looks like it could be a wood hull. As newbies I would suggest that you stick to well known designs which have lots of other owners to give you advice.
It could be named after the builder - I think Gary Saxby built some nice boats around Brisbane. He could, of course, call it whatever he wanted even if the existing NZ class had the same name. Maybe sloppy Google searching created the Woolley connection since this boat is nothing like Woolley's Raven 26.
I wonder if it's really one of the Kaufman masthead quarter tonners that were built up there?
Thanks for the input guys.
It's looking like it may well be a Saxby built boat, however I will have to contact him to confirm.
Gary Saxby's son has his racing cat docked adjacent to this boat which seems like too much of a coincidence!
