Hi Team.
Do any of you have any idea what model yacht this might be.
It's one of the many bird nesting sites in a mooring field near me and no one has been anywhere near it for about two years.
It appears to be steel and about 40 +ish feet long and it looks in fairly good shape despite a fair coating of bird shiz. I'm in the process of tracking down the owner to see what their plans are for it.
Cheers

I'm thinking its a Joe Adams 40 cruiser.
My Adams has been extended to a 42 but the general lines and rudder appear the same.

Reckon you are on the mark there southace.

Icon and Time Traveller are not the same boat i. e. cabin tops are different and maybe mast position, but I am 100% convinced they both came out of the same mould.

It is a shame that some owners let beautiful yachts go like that, however I reckon a $3,000 slipping, pressure blast all over, bottom scrape, bit of battery and some tinkering with engine service, paint on the bottom and back in the drink would add $30,000 value to the yacht.

Business opportunity for you southace.

Geelong is not far from you. If you can pick it up from the Port Authority for what their owe is as an "unclaimed vessel" say $10,000, why would you not buy it, slip it, sail it home, get it in survey and run sail training day sailing trips and take her racing with the club WAGS and SAGS.............

OR

Buy it at the right price, tart it and sell it???

Even if it was right and you had to pay $20,000 for the yacht, I am sure there is a good earner in her.

Right up your alley bloke and down there I am sure with the right kind of publicity you will attract ample more sophisticated and more importantly wealthier clientele than the backpacker market.

Ben that bought my Peterson 42 worked that sail training market out of Brisbane for quite some years and made a packet out of it.

P.S. TIME TRAVELLER is a great name to head that kind of business. You could build a yarn around it.

I was just replying to the original posters post. I have no intention owning 2 yachts again as I'm happy with the one that's currently operational and floating proud.

Adams 40 in steel built to the original plans with maybe a raised freeboard
Sistership to the legendary "Rozinante"

There is a variation between Adams 40 models .
It's hard to compare with the pic you have posted Lydia but it appears Roziante has the much wider transom and also can be built in a centre cockpit/aft cabin version and I believe was Adams/Radford designed.

It is possible Timetraveller could be glass foam core and was born in the same mould as my Icon.
To date I have still not pinpointed the hull design model of my Adams and it maybe a bit of mission when it's time to get Australian Rego.

Roxainate only looks to have a wider stern as it has less freeboard.
It has a very small aft cockpit with a low coach house as it was always built with southern ocean voyaging planned.
The only change from the very original design is the scant links for the deck as approved by Joe.
that the deck is 2mm plate to increase stability and sailing performance.
it also has an unusual dry exhaust and closed cooling system for the engine.

I think it's Roziantie is diffrent design than my Adams Lydia but I believe that Time traveler is the the same build as mine hence why I'm curious .
Most of the Joe Adams websites have been shut down and I have not yet come across a sistership the same hull as mine which is why I'm curious to find the model/hull design.
