Just wondering if there is any more gossip on Bill or others attempting the Westabout 40' non-stop record ?
When Bill returned he appeared to be planning another trip. I guess he won't leave until at least Nov this year. Are there any other punters ?

This was Bill's third attempt at a solo non-stop voyage. The first attempt, in a Mottle 33, failed after damage south of Cape Horn and his return to the Falklands where he sold the boat. His second attempt in the Northshore 38 in 2017, failed just west of West Australia due to rigging problems and having to stop for repairs.Dedicated to completing the circumnavigation non-stop, Bill plans to make another attempt using the same boat but with a shorter mast as he found himself under shortened sail a lot of the time, suffered a fall from the mast, and speed is not his objective

I can never understand why the most incredibly difficult and stressful for the boat is attempted in a production boat the last thing I would trust on a production boat would be the chain plates followed by the deck hull joint and the tabbing of the furniture inside.
Money wise there are some great buys in the current market for custom built steel or alloy yachts , even a well built ferro yacht would be stronger and the motion more gentle.
Not taking anything away from Bill but the boats he has used have let him down .
