Anyone have a pic of the water tank in the Tophats, where on the hull the filling point is? Where the bilges are at, capacity off these if full, where to fit a bilge pump.
Going on average, how many seacocks, my guess is one for sink one for ze dyke, skin fittings be two sink waste and ze dyke outlet, are these under water? Like a pic so know what to look for.
My goal is to moor it somewhere between Ulladulla and Moruya , this is after shes been cleaned, saftey checked, ill need someone to sail her to where shes gotta go, I need it closer to me, I can start spending weekends on board and doing what needs doing.
Im going to need a sail buddy to teach me, my wife refuses to sail , happy to stay on board tied up though, bloody women lol not sure whatll happen when I want to ping of up north, might need to stop in at the Gold Coast pick up a couple of swedish back packers to keep me entertained lol shes not gonna see the funny side of this at all.
Hey mate, water tank is directly under your feet.... Usually with a hose popping out into the bilge to feed the hand pump at sink and or dunny.... Filling points will vary, mines on the floor inside the companionway infront of the steps... Its a round inspection hatch about 125mm dia, cant miss it haha.
Number of skin fittings vary on every top hat depending on what you've got on your boat... I only have two.... One for the sink and one for the raw water inlet for the diesel cooling. Only two places to leak!
I recently slipped my boat. If you're planning on doing a lot of work and not much sailing, I would suggest just scraping the hull (dive on it) and that'll also get you familiar with whats on the water. Save your pennies while you;re working on it rather than sailing and goes without saying if you're not a strong swimmer, take a buddy or get a professional to do it. Always easier at high tide on a sandy bottom in 2-3M of water. THen once you're prepared for a slip, up she goes!
You'll find lots looking at her under water, you'll notice how the top hat rudders are bolted on and sit on a pin fixed with a set of cheeks, these bolts and the threaded rod needs to be replaced when you are slipping her... And so do possibly various other things depending on where you're going....
I'd suggest you read up on the Top hat forum or post questions with photos on the Top hat facebook page....
But if you have a shoal draft Top Hat there is no water tank in the keel!
