G'day all, possibly picking up a -new to us- yacht (our first SAILboat, but not my first boat) this weekend. It's a 24 footer with a one metre draft and I need to move it from a yacht club in Perth to somewhere asap. I've possibly found a temporary mooring nearby and then I'll need to motor it somewhere.... (haven't sailed a yacht before 
) Any ideas of the cheapest place to keep a small yacht? Preferably up Two Rocks/Yanchep way..

Once you leave the river and go north, there are no moorings anywhere. There are only three options for you being Hillary's, Mindarie and Two Rocks Marinas.
Two Rocks I think would be the cheapest and Hillary's being the dearest if you are in the DPI pens. The club pens are cheaper but you'll have to become a club member.
I was in Mindarie and enjoyed my time there but a lot of a surge would come through. It was not nice when we had weather like what we've had this week. But it was a fun marina to be part of.
Nedlands Yacht Club would be the cheapest location on the river. They have moorings, hardstand and a few wet pens. You have to be a member, however it is the cheapest on the river. Alternatively rent a mooring somewhere on the Swan river, lots available.

As llenart has eluded too, is the river an option long term (your original post asked for the Northern suburbs)?
I live in Roleystone and had my boat in Mindarie for a few years, so a fair distance. I worked half way (driving time not distance) and was an easy drive once the Tonkin was upgraded. The river is also a really nice place to be, especially on a 24 footer. One of my most favourite places in WA was moored just off the Mends Street jetty at 6 o'clock in the morning when everything was just starting to wake up. Now I can't fit under the bridges 
Don't discount staying on the river....
It was a free Endeavour 24 with a shabby interior and 2015 5 hp tohatsu and plenty of sails. Unfortunately I couldn't organise a mooring in time so I put it in the "too hard basket" and passed the opportunity to someone else. That someone else was a 15 year old who wanted to teach his mates to sail so all good!! I'll keep looking, but wow, mooring fees are CRAZY! May have to stick to looking for a trailer sailer.....
From what I see our river isn't that sailboat friendly - if you want to get out to the open water the bridges are an issue...
