As an Australian going from Miami to Cuba, how can I get a visa. Cuban embassy in Canberra say I have to apply in USA, but Cuban embassy in Washington say it's illegal to issue a visa for tourist purpose.

I know it's not an issue for Canadians but it used to be (and obviously still is) difficult for Americans. Can you organise it from Mexico or Canada? There must be a way because I know Americans now travel to Cuba on holidays.

You can get a visa from the airline your flying with, I've flown from Mexico and Colombia and were issued visas easily at the airport from the airlines check in. I'm assuming your flying, but since this is a sailing forum, maybe your sailing over? If your sailing there not sure how you would go about the visa but a bit of googling should reveal.

If you fly with Aeromexico you can buy visa from their ticketing desk at airport in Florida , Cancun and Mexico City , I picked up mine from Mexico City and then flew out from Cancun
