A while back I asked about navigation books and instruments for a boat delivery I was helping with (of course, got lots of good advice). Trip went well - absolutely loved it. Was supposed to go to Melbourne but weather gods just gave us weeks of S-Westerlies below the border so had to leave her in Batemans Bay for a couple of weeks then the owner and skipper continued on to Port Phillip.
We had the 'fair winds and following seas' that someone here wished me and the S&S-designed Tartan 37 scooted along. Except for the strong squall with lightning as we approached Ulladulla. Amazingly, a pod of dolphins appeared in the midst of the storm, 'guided' us in for a while, before shooting off north again. Didn't catch dolphins on the camera - had other things to do (like trying not to get killed by lightning).
At 15 mins, the vid is a bit indulgent; I basically made it for my mate and wanted him to have as much of the footage in it as possible (it'll be a while before he gets it out of Port Phillip again!). But if you have a cup of tea, enjoy a virtual sail.
I'm the guy in the Marlin pfd (always on at sea - skipper's orders).
Really good vid' Doc, & first class choice of the sound track. Thanks for posting it.
What program did you use to edit it?, cheers
Cheers guys.
BlueMoon, because I have a PC, I bought PowerDirector 10 a while back. If I had a Mac I'd have the pleasure of iMovie for free.
awesome video. you had some wind and weather there at some points!love the boat, she was gliding along nicely...
Yes Steve, we did. The boat behaved beautifully; I was quite enamoured - I told my mate to let me know if he's ever thinking of letting her go.
Nice vid and sound track.
Note to self:- Buy GoPro and editing software (when there is nothing else I can buy for the boat).![]()
Great video..
We sailed from Pittwater to Eden in the 80's with 15-20kt W and flatwater all the way - brings back memories..Those days we only had slide film so your video idea is great! It really captures it and great choice of music..So thats what the steel bit above the compass is for..dur
I've only ever grabbed onto other things in the cockpit..
Just bought a Northshore 38 and sailed it from Pittwater to it's new home in Lake Macqaurie .. Keen to get back outside again and revel in ocean sailing..Grr Currently no boom or sails on the boat as we are waiting for 2 new sails ( were due this week) . After watching your video I really want to go sailing!!! ![]()
